Abstract

A system in which a plurality of performance objects are stored in computer memory, where each performance objects contains at least one input template and a corresponding optimized code path program product. A template matcher intercepts an input set destined to a directory server, and then determines a match between the intercepted input set and one of the templates. A code path selector then retrieves the corresponding optimized code path program product stored in a performance object associated with the matched template. Finally, a code processor executes the retrieved optimized code path program product on the intercepted input set, and stores the result in a tangible computer media through alteration of a physical property of the media.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a portion of computer readable memory configured as at least one performance object containing at least one input template and a corresponding optimized code path program product;

a template matcher configured to intercept an input set destined to a directory server, and configured to determine a match between said intercepted input set and one of said templates;

a code path selector configured to receive an selection indicator from said matcher, and to retrieve said corresponding optimized code path program product stored in a performance object with said matched template; and

a code processor configured to receive said intercepted input set, and to execute said retrieved optimized code path program product on said input set to produce a result, said result being disposed in a tangible computer media through alteration of a physical property of said media.

2. The system as set forth in claim 1 wherein said code processor is configured to alter a physical property selected from an optical property, a magnetic property, and an electronic property.

The system as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a template generator configured to receive a plurality of previously-processed input sets, to determine similarities between groups of said previously-processed input sets, and to create an input template or rule base for each group suitable for identify an input set which is similar to a group of previously-processed input sets.

4. The system as set forth in claim 3 wherein said previously-processed input sets comprise one or more lightweight directory access protocol input sets.

The system as set forth in claim 3 further comprising an optimized code path generator configured to receive a generalized code path having a plurality of conditional statements and operations, to receive performance monitor data collected during processing of previously-processed input sets, and to produce at least one optimized code path program product by reduction of ineffective steps and operations within said generalized code path for a particular group of previously-processed input sets.

The system as set forth in claim 5 wherein said optimized code path generator is further configured to produce an optimized code path program product by performing an operation selected from the group of reduction of unused steps, elimination of under-utilized steps, modification of ineffective conditional operations, and modification of low-rate-of-success accesses in said generalized code path.

7. The system as set forth in claim 1 wherein said optimized code path program product comprises a lightweight directory access protocol server program product disposed in a tangible computer media through alteration of a physical property of said media.

8. The system as set forth in claim 5 wherein said optimized code path generator is further configured to associate corresponding optimized code path program products and input templates by storing in a performance object, said performance object being accessible by said matcher.

9. The system as set forth in claim 8 wherein said performance object is disposed in a tangible computer media through alteration of a physical property of said media.

10. An automated method comprising:

disposing a plurality of performance objects in computer memory, each containing at least one input template and a corresponding optimized code path program product;

intercepting an input set destined to a directory server;

determining a match between said intercepted input set and one of said templates;

retrieving an optimized code path program product stored in a performance object corresponding with said matched template;

executing by a processor said retrieved optimized code path program product on said input set to produce a result; and

disposing said result in a tangible computer media through alteration of a physical property of said media.

11. The method as set forth in claim 10 wherein said step of disposing the result comprises altering a physical property selected from an optical property, a magnetic property, and an electronic property.

12. The method as set forth in claim 10 further comprising:

receiving a plurality of previously-processed input sets;

determining similarities between groups of said previously-processed input sets; and

creating an input template or rule base for each group suitable for identify an input set which is similar to a group of previously-processed input sets.

13. The method as set forth in claim 12 wherein said previously-processed input sets comprise one or more lightweight directory access protocol input sets.

14. The method as set forth in claim 12 further comprising:

receiving a generalized code path having a plurality of conditional statements and operations;

receiving performance monitor data collected during processing of previously-processed input sets; and

producing at least one optimized code path program product by reduction of ineffective steps and operations within said generalized code path for a particular group of previously-processed input sets.

The method as set forth in claim 14 wherein said step of reduction comprises at least one step selected from the group of elimination of unused steps, elimination of under-utilized steps, removal of ineffective conditional operations, and modification of low-rate-of-success accesses in said generalized code path.

16. The method as set forth in claim 10 wherein said optimized code path program product comprises a lightweight directory access protocol server program product disposed in a tangible computer media through alteration of a physical property of said media.

17. The method as set forth in claim 14 wherein said step of associating comprises storing a corresponding optimized code path program product and an input template in a performance object, said performance object being accessible by said matcher.

18. The method as set forth in claim 17 wherein said step of storing in a performance object comprises alteration of a physical property of a tangible computer media.

19. An article of manufacture comprising:

a computer readable medium suitable for storage of program code; and

one or more program codes disposed in said medium and configured to cause a processor to perform the steps of;

(a) providing or accessing a plurality of performance objects in computer memory, each containing at least one input template and a corresponding optimized code path program product;

(b) intercepting an input set destined to a director server;

(c) determining a match between said intercepted input set and one of said templates;

(d) retrieving an optimized code path program product stored in a performance object corresponding with said matched template;

(e) executing by a processor said retrieved optimized code path program product on said input set to produce a result; and

(f) disposing said result in a tangible computer media through alteration of a physical property of said media.

20. The article as set forth in claim 19 wherein said intercepted input set comprises a lightweight directory access protocol input set.

21. The article as set forth in claim 19 wherein said computer readable medium comprises a persistent storage medium.

22. The article as set forth in claim 19 wherein said computer readable medium comprises a transmission signal, and wherein said program code is stored by said medium for a duration of time suitable for receipt by a receiver and decoder.
