Abstract

Biographic data associated with a user is received. Biometric data associated with the user is also received. External data associated with the biographic data and the biometric data is received and a determination is made as to a level of access to grant the user based on the external data. One or more settings associated with a smartcard are configured based on the level of access.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

receiving biographic data associated with a user;

receiving biometric data associated with the user;

receiving external data associated with the biographic data and the biometric data;

determining a level of access to grant the user based on the external data; and

configuring one or more settings associated with a smartcard based on the level of access.

2. The method of claim 1, where the biometric data includes voice patterns, fingerprint/thumbprints, palm prints, hand/wrist vein patterns, retinal/iris eye scans, hand geometry/topography, keystroke dynamics, typing rhythms, signatures, and facial digital pictures.

3. The method of claim 1, where receiving external data associated with the biographic data and the biometric data comprises:

receiving a comparison of the biometric data with one or more external databases; and

associating the comparison as the external data.

4. The method of claim 1, where the one or more external databases include at least one of government, commercial, and local databases.

5. The method of claim 1, where determining a level of access to grant the user based on the external data comprises:

comparing the external data with one or more conditions associated with a system; and

determining the level of access to the system based on whether the one or more conditions are met by the comparison.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more settings are associated with one or more computer applications and one or more physical environments.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the physical environments include at least one of a building and a door.

8. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

receiving biometric data associated with a user;

providing the biometric data to be compared with one or more external databases;

receiving external data associated with the biometric data;

determining a level of access for the user to one or more systems based on the external data; and

allowing the user access the one or more systems with the biometric data, where the access is controlled by the level of access.

9. The method of claim 8, where the biometric data comprises voice patterns, fingerprint/thumbprints, palm prints, hand/wrist vein patterns, retinal/iris eye scans, hand geometry/topography, keystroke dynamics, typing rhythms, signatures, and facial digital pictures.

10. The method of claim 8, where the determining a level of access for the user to one or more systems based on the external data comprises:

determining whether the external data meets a threshold level associated with the one or more systems; and

associating the level of access for the user to the one or more systems based on the determining.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

associating the biometric data with a smartcard.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

associating the level of access with the smartcard.

13. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a computer-readable medium coupled to the processor and having instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to perform operations comprising;

receiving biographic data associated with a user;

receiving biometric data associated with the user;

receiving external data associated with the biographic data and the biometric data;

determining a level of access to grant the user based on the external data; and

configuring one or more settings associated with a smartcard based on the level of access.

14. The system of claim 13, where the biometric data includes voice patterns, fingerprint/thumbprints, palm prints, hand/wrist vein patterns, retinal/iris eye scans, hand geometry/topography, keystroke dynamics, typing rhythms, signatures, and facial digital pictures.

15. The system of claim 13, where receiving external data associated with the biographic data and the biometric data comprises:

receiving a comparison of the biometric data with one or more external databases; and

associating the comparison as the external data.

16. The system of claim 13, where the one or more external databases include at least one of government, commercial, and local databases.

17. The system of claim 13, where determining a level of access to grant the user based on the external data comprises:

comparing the external data with one or more conditions associated with a system; and

determining the level of access to the system based on whether the one or more conditions are met by the comparison.

18. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a computer-readable medium coupled to the processor and having instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to perform operations comprising;

receiving biometric data associated with a user;

providing the biometric data to be compared with one or more external databases;

receiving external data associated with the biometric data;

determining a level of access for the user to one or more systems based on the external data;

allowing the user access the one or more systems with the biometric data, where the access is controlled by the level of access.

19. The system of claim 18, where the biometric data comprises voice patterns, fingerprint/thumbprints, palm prints, hand/wrist vein patterns, retinal/iris eye scans, hand geometry/topography, keystroke dynamics, typing rhythms, signatures, and facial digital pictures.

20. The system of claim 18, where the determining a level of access for the user to one or more systems based on the external data comprises:

determining whether the external data meets a threshold level associated with the one or more systems; and

associating the level of access for the user to the one or more systems based on the determining.

21. The system of claim 18, wherein the processor is further operable to perform operations comprising:

associating the biometric data with a smartcard.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the processor is further operable to perform operations comprising:

associating the level of access with the smartcard.
