Abstract

A device for detecting pulsations or heartbeats of a person using cycles in general and movable and training implements, includes a plurality of detecting electrodes operating to contact the hands of the person and operatively coupled to at least a cardiac frequency meter, the electrodes being arranged on a cycle or training implement steering control element.

Claims

1. A heartbeat detecting device to be applied to a cycle or a movable physical training implement, characterized in that said device comprises a plurality of electrodes adapted to operate as contact means for the hands of a user, said electrodes being operatively coupled to at least a cardiac frequency meter and arranged on a steering control element of said cycle or implement.

2. A device according to claim 1, characterized in that said device comprises two handles coupled to corresponding sides of said steering control element each supporting one or more of said electrodes adapted to operate as signal and reference electrodes.

3. A device according to claim 2, characterized in that said handles are coupled to hand detent means.

4. A device according to claim 1, characterized in that said device comprises moreover an electrostatic charge protecting device coupled to electric wires from said electrodes.

5. A device according to claim 1, characterized in that said device comprises a preamplifier and preconditioning element, including noise source eliminating filters.

6. A device according to claim 1, characterized in that said device comprises an unbalancing circuit connected to an inlet of an amplifier for operating as an abutment detecting element for detecting as the user hands contact said electrodes.

7. A device according to claim 1, characterized in that said device comprises a hand contact detecting circuit operatively coupled to a controlled switching off circuit.

8. A device according to claim 7, characterized in that said controlled switching off circuit controls a power supply battery.

9. A device according to claim 8, characterized in that said power supply battery is arranged in a control element comprising a handlebar or a hand detent means or handle parts.

10. A device according to claim 5, characterized in that said device comprises, downstream of said preconditioning element, an amplifier stage, followed by a lowpass filtering stage.

11. A device according to claim 10, characterized in that said lowpass filtering stage is operatively coupled to a digital converter.

12. A device according to claim 11, characterized in that said digital converter is operatively coupled to a microprocessor including program and job memories and further connected to a display.

13. A device according to claim 12, characterized in that said device comprises noise removing filters controlled by said microprocessor running on a target control program.

14. A device according to claim 12, characterized in that said display is arranged on an handlebar, a handle, a back mirror or a device worn by the user.

15. A device according to claim 1, characterized in that said device comprises a signal or processed data transmitter.

16. A device according to claim 12, characterized in that said device comprises coupling and driving means for coupling and driving said display.

17. A device according to claim 13, characterized in that said device comprises a plurality of sensor means coupled to said microprocessor.

18. A device according to claim 13, characterized in that said device comprises a plurality of push-buttons operatively coupled to said microprocessor for controlling said display and the device mode of operation.

19. A device according to claim 1, characterized in that said device is designed for coupling to a steering wheel, a control lever mounted on cars, motorcycles, boats, airplanes or other transport means.
