Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer-readable media to connecting to addresses received in spoken communications. The method for connecting to addresses received in spoken communications comprises receiving at least one spoken communication containing a spoken address, extracting each address automatically from the at least one spoken communication, displaying to a user at least one extracted address, and receiving from the user a selection of at least one extracted address to initiate communication.

Claims

1. A method for connecting to addresses received in spoken communications, the method comprising:

receiving at least one spoken communication containing a spoken address;

extracting each address automatically from the at least one spoken communication;

displaying to a user at least one extracted address; and

receiving from the user a selection of at least one extracted address to initiate communication.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed during playback of its associated spoken communication.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed immediately following playback of its associated spoken communication.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed through a menu or a series of menus on a communications device.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the spoken address information includes at least one of a phone number, email address, website, IP address, FTP server, instant messaging address (such as ICQ or AIM), GPS coordinates, or physical address.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein spoken address information containing a phone number is classified as at least one of voice, voicemail, fax, pager, local phone number, long distance phone number, international phone number, toll-free number (such as 1-800), a premium number (such as 1-900), or with or without area code.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the method is performed as a subscription-based service.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the method is performed as a pay-per-use service.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the user may select a plurality of extracted addresses and connect to all selected addresses simultaneously.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the user may select a plurality of extracted addresses and connect to all selected addresses serially.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein connecting to the selected at least one extracted address is achieved by at least one of placing a telephone call, placing a conference call, sending an email, sending a fax, locating on a map, opening a web site, connecting to an IP address, or sending an instant message.

12. A system for connecting to addresses received in spoken communications, the system comprising:

a module configured to receive at least one spoken communication containing a spoken address;

a module configured to extract each address automatically from the at least one spoken communication;

a module configured to display to a user at least one extracted address; and

a module configured to receive from the user a selection of at least one extracted address to initiate communication.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed during playback of its associated spoken communication.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed immediately following playback of its associated spoken communication.

15. The system of claim 12, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed through a menu or a series of menus on a communications device.

16. The system of claim 12, wherein the spoken address information includes at least one of a phone number, email address, website, IP address, FTP server, instant messaging address (such as ICQ or AIM), GPS coordinates, or physical address.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein spoken address information containing a phone number is classified as at least one of voice, voicemail, fax, pager, local phone number, long distance phone number, international phone number, toll-free number (such as 1-800), a premium number (such as 1-900), or with or without area code.

18. The system of claim 12, wherein the system is implemented as a subscription-based service.

19. The system of claim 12, wherein the system is implemented as a pay-per-use service.

20. The system of claim 12, wherein the user may select a plurality of extracted addresses and connect to all selected addresses simultaneously.

21. The system of claim 12, wherein the user may select a plurality of extracted addresses and connect to all selected addresses serially.

The system of claim 12, wherein connecting to the selected at least one extracted address is achieved by at least one of placing a telephone call, placing a conference call, sending an email, sending a fax, locating on a map, opening a web site, connecting to an IP address, or sending an instant message.

23. A computer-readable medium storing a computer program having instructions for connecting to addresses received in spoken communications, the instructions comprising:

receiving at least one spoken communication containing a spoken address;

extracting each address automatically from the at least one spoken communication;

displaying to a user at least one extracted address; and

receiving from the user a selection of at least one extracted address to initiate communication.

24. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed during playback of its associated spoken communication.

25. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed immediately following playback of its associated spoken communication.

26. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein at least one extracted address is displayed through a menu or a series of menus on a communications device.

27. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein the spoken address information includes at least one of a phone number, email address, website, IP address, FTP server, instant messaging address (such as ICQ or AIM), GPS coordinates, or physical address.

28. The computer-readable medium of claim 27, wherein spoken address information containing a phone number is classified as at least one of voice, voicemail, fax, pager, local phone number, long distance phone number, international phone number, toll-free number (such as 1-800), a premium number (such as 1-900), or with or without area code.

29. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein the program is executed as a subscription-based service.

30. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein the program is executed as a pay-per-use service.

31. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein the user may select a plurality of extracted addresses and connect to all selected addresses simultaneously.

32. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein the user may select a plurality of extracted addresses and connect to all selected addresses serially.

33. The computer-readable medium of claim 23, wherein connecting to the selected at least one extracted address is achieved by at least one of placing a telephone call, placing a conference call, sending an email, sending a fax, locating on a map, opening a web site, connecting to an IP address, or sending an instant message.
