Abstract

A method for displaying images in a plurality of groups so as to allow a user to simultaneously preview the images on one screen, and a mobile terminal implementing such method, the mobile terminal including: a display for displaying a plurality of image groups and images included in each image group, a user input unit for receiving a user'"'"'s command input about a certain position or direction so as to move the displayed plurality of image groups or images included in a specific group, and a controller for controlling the above components so as to move the displayed image groups or the images within the specific group in a commanded certain position or direction.

Claims

1. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a display;

a user input unit configured to receive a user'"'"'s command input; and

a controller operatively connected to the display and the user input unit, the controller configured to control the display to

display a group of images, and

move images within the group of images from a first position to a second position or in an identified direction in response to the user'"'"'s command input.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the user'"'"'s command input is a flicking touch input or dragging touch input.

3. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the group of images comprises a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column on the display, each row or column independently movable, and each image in each row or column independently movable.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the display comprises a touch screen including the user input unit.

5. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein

the group of images comprises a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column, each row or column independently movable, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

the controller is configured to control the display to display images of each group relatively larger or smaller according to a corresponding image display position in the corresponding group.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein

the group of images comprises a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column, each row or column independently movable, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

the controller is configured to control a scrolling speed of any image group according to an intensity of a characteristic of a touch input to a corresponding part of the user input unit.

7. The mobile terminal of claim 6, wherein the characteristic comprises one of a flicking or dragging touch pressure, a touch release speed, or a dragging speed.

8. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to

display an image of the group of images in a full screen display, and

scroll to another image in the group when the image is dragged or flicked in a predetermined direction.

9. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein

the group of images comprises a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column, each row or column independently movable, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

the controller is configured to

display an image of a first group of the plurality of image groups in a full screen display, and

scroll to an image in a second group of the plurality of image groups when the image is dragged or flicked in a predetermined direction.

10. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein

the group of images comprises a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column, each row or column independently movable, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

the controller is configured to transfer an image from a first group of the plurality of image groups to a second group of the plurality of image groups in response to a touch and drag operation.

11. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to change an order of images within the group of images in response to a touch and drag operation.

12. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to

restrict a direction in which the displayed group of images can be scrolled on the display to a certain direction, and

alert a user that an attempt to scroll in an undesignated direction is a mis-operation.

13. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein

the group of images comprises a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column, each row or column independently movable, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

the controller is configured to control the display to simultaneously move two groups of the plurality of groups in response to a single touch and drag operation.

14. An image display method for a mobile terminal, comprising:

displaying a group of images on a display of the mobile terminal, and

moving images within the group of images from a first position to a second position or in an identified direction in response to a user'"'"'s command input.

15. The image display method of claim 14, wherein the user'"'"'s command input is a flicking touch input or dragging touch input.

16. The image display method of claim 14, wherein

the step of displaying a group of images comprises displaying a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column on the display, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

the step of moving comprising moving each row or column independently.

17. The image display method of claim 14, wherein the step of displaying a group of images comprises

displaying a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column on the display, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

displaying images of each group relatively larger or smaller according to a corresponding image display position in the corresponding group.

18. The image display method of claim 14, wherein

the step of displaying a group of images comprises displaying a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column on the display, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

the step of moving comprises controlling a scrolling speed of any image group according to an intensity of a characteristic of a touch input to a corresponding part of the user input unit.

19. The image display method of claim 18, wherein the characteristic comprises an intensity of flicking or dragging corresponding to one of a flicking or dragging touch pressure, a touch release speed, or a dragging speed.

20. The image display method of claim 14, wherein

the step of displaying comprises displaying an image of the group of images in a full screen display, and

the step of moving comprises scrolling to another image in the group when the image is dragged or flicked in a predetermined direction.

21. The image display method of claim 14, wherein

the step of displaying a group of images comprises

displaying a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column on the display, and each image in each row or column independently movable, and

displaying an image of a first group of the plurality of image groups in a full screen display;

and

the step of moving comprises scrolling to an image in a second group of the plurality of image groups when the image is dragged or flicked in a predetermined direction.

22. The image display method of claim 14, wherein

the step of displaying a group of images comprises displaying a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column on the display, and each image in each row or column independently movable;

and

the step of moving comprises transferring an image from a first group of the plurality of image groups to a second group of the plurality of image groups in response to a touch and drag operation.

23. The image display method of claim 14, wherein the step of moving comprises:

changing an order of images within the group of images in response to a touch and drag operation.

24. The image display method of claim 14, wherein the step of moving comprises:

restricting a direction in which the displayed group of images can be scrolled on the display to a certain direction; and

alerting the user that an attempt to scroll in an undesignated direction is a mis-operation.

25. The image display method of claim 14, wherein

the step of displaying a group of images comprises displaying a plurality of image groups, each image group displayed within a corresponding row or column on the,display, and each image in each row or column independently movable;

and

the step of moving comprises simultaneously moving two groups of the plurality of groups in response to a single touch and drag operation.
