Abstract

Conference participants are selected via a network element in a network, the geographical area locations, for example, buildings of an enterprise, of the conference participants are determined and depending on the determined locations a geographical conference area, for example a conference room is determined for each conference participant. The conference area together with the conference information is communicated to the conference participants. The availability of the conference participants can be checked for the communication.

16. A method for initialization of scheduled conferences in a communication network, comprising:

receiving a selection of conference participants;

determining a geographical location area for each conference participant via a network element in the network, for each participant the network element is interrogated as to a connection of the communication network via which the conference participant is reachable;

determining a geographical conference area for the respective conference participants based on the determined location areas;

determining a conference resource in the geographical conference area; and

notifying the conference participants of the conference resource and conference information.

17. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein the conference resource is determined based on the communication network and which support a scheduled time for the establishment of the conference.

18. The method as claimed in claim 16,

wherein the network element includes a URL address for each conference participant and assignment information for the URL address, the assignment information providing a location, and

wherein the location areas are determined via the URL addresses and assignment information.

The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein via further assignment information, the location areas of a geographical conference area is determined for the respective conference participants with the assignment of the conference areas to the location areas determined being specified by the further assignment information.

20. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein an additional item of information is included in the determination of the geographical conference areas of at least the conference participant or conference resource.

21. The method as claimed in claim 20, wherein the additional information at least provides:

a preferred conference area of a conference participant

a preferred conference area of a group of conference participants,

a preferred communication network of a conference participant,

a preferred communication network of a group of conference participants,

a preferred communication resources of a conference participant,

a preferred communication resources of a group of conference participants, or

an additional application to be provided to the conference participants.

The method as claimed in claim 20, wherein the additional Information as well as the terminal to which the conference information including the conference area is notified, is determined by a presence function of the network and is provided for the determination of the conference area and the conference resources as well as for their transmission.

23. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein the conference participants are selected individually depending on the type of conference or through a predetermined conference-type-specific group.

24. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein the conference participants are selected individually depending on the type of conference and through a predetermined conference-type-specific group.

25. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein for the respective conference participant (navigation information indicating his conference area is determined and transferred, with the aid of which a navigation system guides the respective conference participant to his conference area.

26. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein the conference resources are selected from the group comprising server, terminals, different conference modules which at least support the initialization and setup of a conference as well as the conference control, and combinations thereof.

27. The method as claimed in claim 16, the conference participants are supported during the conference as additionally provided applications.

28. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein a conference is defined by parameters comprising conference type, conference identification start time, and URL list of the conference participants KT.

29. The method as claimed in claim 28, wherein the conference is further defined by at least one parameter selected from the group consisting of conference duration, end time, names of the conference participants list of the conference resources.

30. The method as claimed in claim 16, wherein after at least one conference area is determined, a message is formed and is transferred to the conference participants, with the message being including, type of conference, participants in conference, conference area or conference room, start time of the conference, intended duration of the conference, initiator of the conference, moderator of the conference.
