Abstract

Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for managing the communications and information resources of a user. When a request for data is received, a message log is queried for the data. A result of the query is then communicated.

Claims

1. A method for managing communications of a user, comprising:

presenting a message log that tracks the communications of the user;

causing display of an entry in the message log;

receiving a selection of a data field within the entry;

querying an information resource to retrieve information that is correlated to the selected data field;

presenting only one type of correlated information when there is only one type of correlated information;

presenting a list of different types of correlated information when different types of correlated information exist;

receiving another selection that selects a type of information from the list;

retrieving the selected type of information; and

presenting the selected type of information correlated to the selected field.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving contact information associated with the selected data field.

3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving a website address associated with the selected data field.

4. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving a map associated with the selected data field.

5. The method according to claim 1, further comprising highlighting the selected data field.

6. The method according to claim 1, further comprising querying a third party resource for the correlated information.

7. The method according to claim 1, further comprising querying for the type of information correlated to the selected data field.

8. The method according to claim 1, further comprising presenting an icon in the list for each of the different types of correlated information.

9. The method according to claim 8, further comprising retrieving the selected type of correlated information when the icon is selected.

10. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving a telephone number associated with the selected data field.

11. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving an address associated with the selected data field.

12. The method according to claim 1, further comprising at least one of retrieving correlated information to a “

from”

field, a “

subject”

field, and a “

date”

field.

13. A system for managing communications of a user, comprising:

a processor executing code stored in memory, the code causing the processor to;

present a message log that tracks the communications of the user;

cause display of an entry in the message log;

receive a selection of a data field within the entry;

query an information resource to retrieve information that is correlated to the selected data field;

present only one type of correlated information when there is only one type of correlated information;

present a list of different types of correlated information when different types of correlated information exist;

receive another selection that selects a type of information from the list;

retrieve the selected type of information; and

present the selected type of information correlated to the selected field.

14. The system according to claim 13, wherein the code further causes the processor to retrieve contact information associated with the selected data field.

15. The system according to claim 13, wherein the code further causes the processor to retrieve a website address associated with the selected data field.

16. The system according to claim 13, wherein the code further causes the processor to retrieve a map associated with the selected data field.

17. The system according to claim 13, wherein the code further causes the processor to highlight the selected data field.

18. The system according to claim 13, wherein the code further causes the processor to query a third party resource for the correlated information.

19. The system according to claim 13, wherein the code further causes the processor to retrieve at least one of correlated information to a “

from”

field, a “

subject”

field, and a “

date”

field.

20. A computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium storing computer-readable instructions for performing a method of managing communications of a user, the method comprising:

presenting a message log that tracks the communications of the user;

causing display of an entry in the message log;

receiving a selection of a data field within the entry;

querying an information resource to retrieve information that is correlated to the selected data field;

presenting only one type of correlated information when there is only one type of correlated information;

presenting a list of different types of correlated information when different types of correlated information exist;

receiving another selection that selects a type of information from the list;

retrieving the selected type of information; and

presenting the selected type of information correlated to the selected field.
