Abstract

A content server apparatus (10) includes: a unique information holding unit (103) which holds unique information of an on-vehicle player apparatus (20), a content obtaining unit (101) which obtains a content from outside, an encrypting unit (104) which encrypts the obtained content, prior to a transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus (20), onto an encrypted content using the unique information, a storing unit (105) which stores the encrypted content, and a transmitting unit (107) which transmits the stored encrypted content in response to the transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus (20). The on-vehicle player apparatus includes a storage medium (208) which stores the received encrypted content, and a decrypting unit (209) which decrypts the stored encrypted content in response to a reproduction request given from outside.

Claims

1. A content server apparatus used with an on-vehicle player apparatus, said content server apparatus comprising:

a unique information holding unit which holds unique information of the on-vehicle player apparatus;

a content obtaining unit operable to obtain a content from outside of said content server;

an encrypting unit operable to encrypt the obtained content into an encrypted content, using the unique information, prior to a transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus;

a storing unit operable to store the encrypted content; and

a transmitting unit operable to transmit the stored encrypted content to the on-vehicle player apparatus in response to the transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus.

2. The content server apparatus according to claim 1,

wherein said unique information holding unit secretly holds, as the unique information, identification information which is unique to a storage medium for storing the encrypted content in the on-vehicle player apparatus.

3. The content server apparatus according to claim 1,

wherein said content obtaining unit is operable to obtain the content in the form of at least one of an analog signal representing the content and digital data that is obtained by performing predetermined encoding on the analog signal.

4. The content server apparatus according to claim 3, further comprising

an encoding unit operable, in the case where the content is obtained in the form of an analog signal, to encode the obtained analog signal into digital data.

5. The content server apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising

an authenticating unit operable to authenticate the on-vehicle player apparatus prior to transmission of the encrypted content,

wherein said transmitting unit is operable to transmit the encrypted content to the on-vehicle player apparatus only when the authentication by said authenticating unit is successful.

6. The content server apparatus according to claim 5,

wherein said authenticating unit and the on-vehicle player apparatus each holds device certificate data which is based on Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP), and

said authenticating unit and the on-vehicle player apparatus perform mutual authentication, using the device certificate data.

7. The content server apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising

a metadata storing unit which stores metadata each corresponding to one of encrypted contents stored in said storing unit,

wherein said transmitting unit is operable to transmit the encrypted content in an order designated by the metadata.

8. The content server apparatus according to claim 7,

wherein said content server apparatus is notified of a car occupant who is identified by the on-vehicle player apparatus,

the metadata includes information for identifying an individual, and

said transmitting unit is operable to transmit, prior to any other encrypted content, an encrypted content which corresponds to the metadata identifying the car occupant which is notified by the on-vehicle player apparatus.

9. The content server apparatus according to claim 1,

wherein said storing unit is operable to divide the encrypted content into plural fragments and store the fragments, and

said transmitting unit is operable to transmit the encrypted content to the on-vehicle player apparatus on the stored fragment basis.

10. The content server apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising

a communication unit operable to connect to at least one of a Local Area Network (LAN), the Internet, and a mobile communication network,

wherein said transmitting unit is operable to transmit the encrypted content to the on-vehicle player apparatus via at least one of the LAN, the Internet, and the mobile communication network, using said communication unit.

11. An on-vehicle player apparatus used with a content server apparatus, said on-vehicle player apparatus comprising:

a requesting unit operable to request, to the content server apparatus, transmission of an encrypted content which is encrypted using unique information of said on-vehicle player apparatus;

a receiving unit operable to receive the encrypted content which has been transmitted from the content server apparatus in response to the request;

a storage medium for storing the received encrypted content; and

a decrypting unit operable to decrypt the stored encrypted content using the unique information, in response to a reproduction request given from outside.

12. The on-vehicle player apparatus according to claim 11,

wherein said requesting unit is operable to issue the request in one or more of the cases where:

said on-vehicle player apparatus is activated;

a predetermined operation is performed by a user; and

a predetermined time has elapsed since the previous request.

13. The on-vehicle player apparatus according to claim 11, further comprising

a car occupant identifying unit operable to identify a car occupant,

wherein said requesting unit is operable to notify the content server apparatus of the identified car occupant, when issuing the request.

14. The on-vehicle player apparatus according to claim 11, further comprising

an authenticating unit operable to authenticate the content server apparatus prior to reception of the encrypted content,

wherein said receiving unit is operable to receive the encrypted content from the content server apparatus only when the authentication by said authenticating unit is successful.

15. The on-vehicle player apparatus according to claim 14,

wherein said authenticating unit and the content serer apparatus mutually hold device certificate data based on the DTCP, and

said authenticating unit and the content server apparatus perform mutual authentication, using the device certificate data.

16. The on-vehicle player apparatus according to claim 11,

wherein said receiving unit is operable to receive the encrypted content in fragments each of which is transmitted from the content server,

said storage medium stores the encrypted content on the received fragment basis, and

said decrypting unit is operable to perform the decryption on the stored fragment basis, regardless of whether or not all fragments of the encrypted content have been stored.

17. The on-vehicle player apparatus according to claim 11, further comprising

a communication unit operable to connect to at least one of a Local Area Network, the Internet, and a mobile communication network,

wherein said receiving unit is operable to receive the encrypted content from the content server apparatus via at least one of the LAN, the Internet, and the mobile communication network, using said communication unit.

18. A content server-player system comprising a content server apparatus and an on-vehicle player apparatus,

wherein said content server apparatus includes:

a unique information holding unit which holds unique information of the on-vehicle player apparatus;

a content obtaining unit operable to obtain a content from outside;

an encrypting unit operable to encrypt the obtained content using the unique information held in the unique information holding unit, prior to a transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus, the obtained content being encrypted to become an encrypted content;

a storing unit operable to store the encrypted content; and

a transmitting unit operable to transmit the stored encrypted content to the on-vehicle player apparatus in response to the transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus, and

said on-vehicle player apparatus includes;

a requesting unit operable to request, to the content server apparatus, transmission of the encrypted content;

a receiving unit operable to receive the encrypted content which has been transmitted from the content server apparatus in response to the request;

a storage medium for storing the received encrypted content; and

a decrypting unit operable to decrypt the stored encrypted content using the unique information, in response to a reproduction request given from outside.

19. A data processing method for use in a content server apparatus which is used with an on-vehicle player apparatus, said data processing method comprising:

a content obtaining step of obtaining a content from outside;

an encrypting step of encrypting the obtained content using the unique information of said on-vehicle player apparatus, prior to a transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus, the obtained content being encrypted to become an encrypted content;

a storing step of storing the encrypted content; and

a transmitting step of transmitting the stored encrypted content to the on-vehicle player apparatus in response to the transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus.

20. A data processing method for use in an on-vehicle player apparatus used with a content server apparatus, said data processing method comprising:

a requesting step of requesting, to the content server apparatus, transmission of an encrypted content which is encrypted using unique information of said on-vehicle player apparatus;

a receiving step of receiving the encrypted content which has been transmitted from the content server apparatus in response to the request;

a storage step of storing the received encrypted content; and

a decrypting step of decrypting the stored encrypted content using the unique information, in response to a reproduction request given from outside.

22. A computer-executable program for implementing a content server apparatus that is used with an on-vehicle player apparatus in a computer, said program causing the computer to execute:

a content obtaining step of obtaining a content from outside;

an encrypting step of encrypting the obtained content using the unique information of said on-vehicle player apparatus, prior to a transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus, the obtained content being encrypted to become an encrypted content;

a storing step of storing the encrypted content; and

a transmitting step of transmitting the stored encrypted content to the on-vehicle player apparatus in response to the transmission request from the on-vehicle player apparatus.

25. A computer-readable storage medium on which the program according to claim 22 is stored.

23. A computer-executable program for implementing, using a computer, an on-vehicle player apparatus that is used with a content server apparatus, said program causing the computer to execute:

a requesting step of requesting, to the content server apparatus, transmission of an encrypted content which is encrypted using unique information of said on-vehicle player apparatus;

a receiving step of receiving the encrypted content which has been transmitted from the content server apparatus in response to the request;

a storage step of storing the received encrypted content; and

a decrypting step of decrypting the stored encrypted content using the unique information, in response to a reproduction request given from outside.

26. A computer-readable storage medium on which the program according to claim 23 is stored.
