Abstract

A testing system and method for providing a testing system includes a user interface having a display for displaying information relating to measurements of health data and an input device for receiving information from a user relating to the health data. Provided in connection with the user interface is an autologging feature adapted to provide the user with user-selectable options on the display. The user is prompted, during a time period corresponding to the amount of time needed to perform the measurements, to input information relating to the health data that corresponds to the appropriate user-selectable option. Also provided is a statistical operation adapted to provide the user with enhanced information relating to the measurements of health data. The statistical operation provide the user with an average value based on a plurality of health data readings determined for a specified time period. Also provided is at least one indicator for indicating information relating to the number of health data readings that are within a target range, the number of health data readings that are above the target range and the number of health data readings that are below the target range.

Claims

1. A testing system comprising:

a user interface including a display for displaying information relating to measurements of health data and an input device for receiving information from a user relating to the health data; and

an autologging feature adapted to provide the user with user-selectable options on the display and to prompt the user, during a time period corresponding to the amount of time needed to perform the measurements, to input information relating to the health data that corresponds to the appropriate user-selectable option.

2. The testing system of claim 1, wherein the user-selectable options are before-food and after-food meal markers.

3. The testing system of claim 1, wherein the health data is related to an analyte in a body fluid sample.

4. The testing system of claim 1, wherein the health data is related to a heart rate, a blood pressure, a body temperature, a breathing rate for COPD analysis, or a weight measurement for analyzing Lasix use.

5. The testing system of claim 1, wherein the user-selectable options are displayed in connection with a set of soft keys.

6. The testing system of claim 1, wherein the user-selection option selected by the user is displayed in connection with a measurement value of the health data.

7. The testing system of claim 1, wherein the time period is about five seconds.

8. A method of providing a testing system, the method comprising the acts of:

providing the testing system having a user interface including a display;

receiving health data of the user via a measurement system;

prompting the user to input user information that corresponds to the health data, the prompting occurring within a time period corresponding to the amount of time needed to perform measurements relating to the health data;

performing the measurements relating to the health data;

during the performing of the measurements, receiving the user information that corresponds to the health data via an input device; and

displaying the measurements of the health data on the display.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the prompting of the user to input user information that corresponds to the health data includes displaying a plurality of user-selectable options.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the user-selectable options include before-food and after-food meal markers.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the user-selectable options are displayed in connection with a set of soft keys.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein the time period is about five seconds.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein the health data is related to an analyte in a body fluid sample.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the analyte in the body fluid sample is glucose.

15. The method of claim 8, wherein the health data is related to a heart rate, a blood pressure, a body temperature, a breathing rate for COPD analysis, or a weight measurement for analyzing Lasix use.

16. A testing system comprising:

a user interface including a display for displaying information relating to measurements of health data and an input device for receiving input from the user;

a statistical operation adapted to provide the user with enhanced information relating to the measurements of health data, the statistical operation providing the user with an average value based on a plurality of health data readings determined for a specified time period; and

at least one indicator for indicating information relating to the number of health data readings that are within a target range, the number of health data readings that are above the target range and the number of health data readings that are below the target range.

17. The testing system of claim 16, wherein the average value and the number of health data readings that are within, above and below the target range of health data readings are displayed simultaneously to the user on the display.

18. The testing system of claim 16, wherein the target range may include a pre-meal target range and a post-meal target range.

19. The testing system of claim 16, wherein the numbers of health data readings that are within the target range, above the target range or below the target range are aligned with a plurality of soft keys.

20. The testing system of claim 16, wherein the health data is related to a heart rate, a blood pressure, a body temperature, a breathing rate for COPD analysis, or a weight measurement for analyzing Lasix use.

21. A method of providing a testing system, the method comprising the acts of:

providing the testing system having a user interface including a display for displaying information relating to measurements of health data including a plurality of health data readings;

receiving input from the user via the input device;

performing a statistical operation to provide the user with enhanced information relating to the plurality of health data readings;

displaying an output of the statistical operation, the output being based on the plurality of health data readings determined for a specified time period; and

displaying at least one indicator for indicating the number of health data readings that are within a target range, the number of health data readings that are above the target range and the number of health data readings that are below the target range.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein the output of the statistical operation is an average value of the plurality of health data readings.

23. The method of claim 21, wherein the average value is a 7-day average, a 14-day average or a 30-day average.

24. The method of claim 21, further comprising simultaneously displaying the output of the statistical operation and the at least one indicator to the user on the display.
