Abstract

A method of activation and authorization of a near field communication (NFC) enabled device comprising: receiving login information from an NFC enabled device; sending packet data via a network in response to receiving the login information from the NFC enabled device; and receiving corresponding data from the NFC enabled device in response to the sending of the packet data, the sending of the packet data and the receiving of the corresponding code facilitates the activation and authorization of the NFC enabled device, and the subsequent activation of the NFC device via a NFC link without further authorization of the NFC enabled device, is described herein.

Claims

1. A method of activation and authorization of a near field communication (NFC) enabled device comprising:

transmitting login compiled information via a network;

receiving packet data in response to the login information;

transmitting a corresponding code in response to the packet data received, the receiving of the packet data and the transmitting of the corresponding code facilitates the activation and authorization of the NFC enabled device;

storing the packet data in the NFC enabled device; and

activating the NFC enabled device via an NFC link,

wherein the stored packet data permits the subsequent activating of the NFC enabled device via the NFC link without further authorizing of the NFC enabled device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein compiled login information comprises the steps of generating a public key associated with the NFC enabled device, and receiving user specific information.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the user specific information comprises one of a phone number, pin number, email address, or password.

4. The method of claim 1, where the packet data includes data associated with the NFC enabled device and comprises one of country, currency, language, or security code.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the NFC enabled device comprises a cell phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a smart phone, a computer, or a personal computer (PC).

6. The method of claim 1, wherein activating the NFC device via the NFC link includes one of tapping the NFC enabled device with another NFC enabled device, or positioning the NFC enabled device in close proximity to another NFC enabled device.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the NFC enabled device comprises a cell phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a smart phone, a computer, or a personal computer (PC).

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the other NFC enabled device comprises a cell phone, a fob, a smartcard, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a smart phone, a computer, a personal computer (PC), or a point of purchase (POP) terminal.

9. An apparatus for conducting a financial transaction comprising:

a near field communication (NFC) enabled device adapted to transmit login information via a network;

receive packet data in response to the login information;

transmit a corresponding code in response to the receipt of the packet data, the receipt of the packet data and the transmit of the corresponding code facilitates activation and authorization of the NFC enabled device;

the NFC enabled device further adapted to store the packet data and access the stored packet data to permit subsequent activation of the NFC enabled device via an NFC link without further authorization of the NFC enabled device.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the login information comprises a public key associated with the NFC enabled device.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the login information further comprises one of a phone number, pin number, email address, or password.

12. The apparatus of claim 9, where the packet data includes data associated with the NFC enabled device and comprises one of country, currency, language, or security code.

13. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the NFC enabled device comprises a cell phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a smart phone, a computer, or a personal computer (PC).

14. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein activation of the NFC device via the NFC link includes one of tapping the NFC enabled device with another NFC enabled device, or positioning the NFC enabled device in close proximity to another NFC enabled device.

15. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the NFC enabled device comprises a cell phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a smart phone, a computer, or a personal computer (PC).

16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the other NFC enabled device comprises a cell phone, a fob, a smartcard, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a smart phone, a computer, a personal computer (PC), or a point of purchase (POP) terminal.

17. A method of activation and authorization of a near field communication (NFC) enabled device comprising:

receiving login information from an NFC enabled device;

sending packet data via a network in response to receiving the login information from the NFC enabled device; and

receiving corresponding data from the NFC enabled device in response to the sending of the packet data, the sending of the packet data and the receiving of the corresponding code facilitates the activation and authorization of the NFC enabled device, and the subsequent activation of the NFC device via a NFC link without further authorization of the NFC enabled device.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the login information comprises a public key associated with the NFC enabled device.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the login information further comprises one of a phone number, pin number, email address, or password.

20. The method of claim 17, where the packet data includes data associated with the NFC enabled device and comprises one of country, currency, language, or security code.

21. A service provider system for activation and authorization of a near field communication (NFC) enabled device comprising:

one or more apparatus adapted to receive login information via a network from the NFC enabled device;

transmit packet data in response to the login information;

receive a corresponding code in response to the transmit of the packet data, the receipt of the packet data and the transmit of the corresponding code facilitates activation and authorization of the NFC enabled device; and

the subsequent activation of the NFC device via a NFC link without further authorization of the NFC enabled device.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the login information comprises a public key associated with the NFC enabled device.

23. The system of claim 21, wherein the login information further comprises one of a phone number, pin number, email address, or password.

24. The system of claim 21, where the packet data includes data associated with the NFC enabled device and comprises one of country, currency, language, or security code.
