Abstract

The claimed subject matter provides systems and/or methods that facilitate employing a universal handle that provides various functionality and communicates with various network(s), device(s), and the like. The universal handle can be a handheld device that is auto-configured to implement rich functionality. Further, the universal handle can support remote diagnostic, prognostic, and control capabilities. Moreover, the universal handle can mate with disparate device(s), network(s), instrument(s), node(s), universal handle(s), and so forth to communicate data there between. Applications of the universal handle can be medically related, industry related, military related, etc. The universal handle can collect data directly and/or by controlling managed external device(s); the collected data can thereafter be analyzed, aggregated, stored, transmitted, outputted, and so forth by the universal handle.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a universal handle that is a handheld device which is auto-configured to support remote diagnostic, prognostic, and control capabilities; and

a link component included in the universal handle, the link component initiates communication and transfers data between the universal handle and at least one of a disparate device, network, instrument, component or node.

2. The system of claim 1, the universal handle further comprising a power component that supplies power to the universal handle and a device coupled to the universal handle via the link component.

3. The system of claim 1, the universal handle further comprising an input component that receives user input for the universal handle, the input component being at least one of a pointing device, a keyboard, an imaging device, a microphones, or a sensor.

4. The system of claim 1, the universal handle further comprising an output component that yields an output to a user of the universal handle.

5. The system of claim 1, the link component further comprising a proximity recognition component that identifies managed external devices within range of the universal handle.

6. The system of claim 1, the link component further comprising a configuration component that initializes interaction between the universal handle and a selected managed external device.

7. The system of claim 1, the universal handle communicates with a managed external device via the link component.

8. The system of claim 7, the managed external device being a medical device.

9. The system of claim 8, the medical device being a flexible scope driven device or a robotics related medical device.

10. The system of claim 7, the universal handle further comprising a control component that controls operations of the managed external device coupled via the link component.

11. The system of claim 1, further comprising a data analysis component that performs pattern recognition upon data obtained by the universal handle.

12. The system of claim 1, the universal handle further comprising a search component that utilizes data obtained by the universal handle to at least one of search or browse for additional data.

13. The system of claim 1, the universal handle being a consumer version that provides functionality to enable a user to check medical conditions based upon data obtained at least one of directly by the universal handle or indirectly via home testing medical equipment.

14. A method that facilitates operating a universal handle, comprising:

collecting medical data utilizing the universal handle; and

generating a diagnosis of a medical condition based upon the collected medical data.

15. The method of claim 14, generating the diagnosis with the universal handle.

16. The method of claim 14, generating the diagnosis further comprises:

transmitting the medical data via a wireless connection to a medical service provider, which determines the diagnosis based upon the medical data; and

receiving the diagnosis via the wireless connection from the medical service provider.

17. The method of claim 14, further comprising determining whether the diagnosis warrants referral to a physician.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising selecting an appropriate physician based upon the diagnosis, medical record data, and insurance plan related information when the diagnoses warrants the referral.

19. The method of claim 14, further comprising obtaining medical data collected with home testing medical equipment.

20. A system that enables collecting and communicating medical data, comprising:

means for controlling a managed external device;

means for obtaining medical data from the managed external device;

means for generating a diagnosis based upon the medical data; and

means for updating medical records based upon at least one of the diagnosis or the medical data.
