Abstract

Systems and methods that set priority levels to messaging systems initiated between end points (e.g., two SQL point services) thru service brokers. A priority component can apply priority at a session level to add priority capabilities on top of service brokers, and enable setting priority for all the messages in a session or conversation. Such priority can further affect the order in which messages from different conversations are sent and the order in which they are received.

Claims

1. A computer implemented system comprising:

a service broker that initiates sessions between endpoints, and

a priority component that applies priority across sessions and associated messages exchanged between the endpoints.

2. The computer implemented system of claim 1 further comprising a configuration component that implements configuration rules for priority applications.

3. The computer implemented system of claim 1 further comprising a scheduling component that sends messages with starvation prevention.

4. The computer implemented system of claim 2, each configuration rule contains a numeric identifier for identification of the configuration rule.

5. The computer implemented system of claim 2 further comprising a transport layer for message exchange based on priority classes defined.

6. The computer implemented system of claim 2, the configuration rules exposable as TSQL statement.

7. The computer implemented system of claim 2, the messages include a database registration message constructed as an XML based file.

8. The computer implemented system of claim 1 further comprising queues that couple message senders and receivers.

9. The computer implemented system of claim 1 further comprising an artificial intelligence component to facilitate prioritization of the messages.

10. A computer implemented method comprising:

initiating sessions through a service broker between a sender and a receiver;

defining configuration rules for message priority of a session, and

prioritizing messages across sessions between the sender and the receiver.

11. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising configuring the service broker by a program or user.

12. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising setting independent set of priority rules for each of the end points.

13. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising defining priority classes for exchanging messages.

14. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising calling process methods into a scheduling component.

15. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising processing messages associated with a session.

16. The computer implemented method of claim 15 further comprising applying priority at receive time to determine messages pulled from a queue.

17. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising managing corresponding destinations and remote end points.

18. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising setting priorities automatically at a service point.

19. The computer implemented method of claim 10 further comprising determining order processing of messages, sessions, or other entities based on priority scheduling algorithm.

20. A computer implemented system comprising:

means for initiating a session between endpoints, and

means for applying a priority to messages of the session exchanged between the endpoints based on priority scheduling algorithm.
