Abstract

A method for compensating for motion on screens is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes varying the display of a screen on a device using motion data. In this embodiment, a display adjustment amount also may be determined using screen properties and motion limits. In another embodiment, the method includes varying the location of an input region on a touch screen using touch data. In yet another embodiment, the method includes scaling selectable images and apportioning the display using motion data. Various additional methods, machine-readable media, and systems for motion compensation of a screen are also provided.

Claims

1. A method comprising varying the display of one or more screens on a device based on contemporaneously acquired motion data.

2. The method of claim 1, comprising acquiring the motion data from a one, two, or three axis linear accelerometer.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the varying the display comprises shifting the display of the one or more screens at a rate dependent on the contemporaneously acquired motion data.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the varying the display comprises shifting the display of the one or more screens by a scaled amount, wherein the scaled amount is based on screen properties.

5. The method of claim 1, comprising aligning input regions with the varied display.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the varying the display comprises:

displaying one or more selectable images and input regions, wherein the one or more selectable images and input regions are scaled based on the contemporaneously acquired motion data.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the varying the display comprises apportioning the display by selecting a portion of the one or more screens to display or a subset of the selectable images to display.

8. One or more tangible media, comprising executable code configured to change the display of one or more screens configured to be displayed on a device based on contemporaneously acquired motion data.

9. The media of claim 8, comprising:

code executable to determine a display adjustment value; and

code executable to display a screen defined by the display adjustment value defined by the motion data.

10. The media of claim 9, wherein the display adjustment value is defined by screen properties and the screen is a motion compensated screen.

11. The media of claim 9, wherein the display adjustment value is defined by selectable images and the screen is a modified screen containing scaled images and scaled input regions.

12. The media of claim 9, comprising code executable to determine whether the motion data is within motion limits.

13. A method comprising varying the location of one or more input regions on a device based on contemporaneously acquired touch data.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the touch data comprises a physical touch, a series of physical touches, an approach touch, or a series of approach touches.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein varying the location comprises:

defining the one or more input regions on a device using groups of nodes;

aligning the input regions with images of a screen; and

adjusting one or more input regions from the aligned position based on the contemporaneously acquired touch data.

16. One or more tangible media, comprising executable code configured to change the location of one or more input regions on a device based on contemporaneously acquired touch data.

17. The media of claim 16, comprising code executable to determine whether the touch data is within touch limits, wherein the touch limits include pressure values and location values.

18. The media of claim 17, comprising code executable to produce a motion compensated input region by shifting the location of a generated input region using the touch data.

19. The media of claim 16, comprising executable code configured to change the screen location of one or more screens configured to be displayed on a device based on contemporaneously acquired motion data.

20. An electronic device, comprising:

one or more displays;

one or more touch screens; and

one or more processors configured to execute routines for varying the display of one or more screens based on contemporaneously acquired motion data and for varying the location of one or more input regions based on contemporaneously acquired touch data.

21. The electronic device of claim 20, wherein the routines are executed independently.

22. The electronic device of claim 20, wherein the electronic device comprises one of a media player, a cellular phone, a computer, or a personal data organizer.

23. The electronic device of claim 20, comprising:

a motion sensing device configured to acquire the motion data; and

a touch sensing device configured to acquire the touch data.

24. The electronic device of claim 23, wherein the motion sensing device is an accelerometer and the touch sensing device is a multi-point touch screen.

25. The electronic device of claim 20, wherein the one or more screens is directed to a user interface.
