Abstract

An apparatus for processing a signal and method thereof are disclosed. Data coding and entropy coding are performed with interconnection, and grouping is used to enhance coding efficiency. The present invention includes the steps of obtaining index information and data and entropy-decoding the index information and identifying an entropy table corresponding to the entropy-decoded index information and entropy-decoding the data using the identified entropy table.

Claims

1. A method for processing a signal, comprising:

receiving index information and data;

entropy-decoding the index information;

identifying an entropy table corresponding to the entropy-decoded index information; and

entropy-decoding the data using the entropy table.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the data is a parameter and the method further comprises reconstructing audio signal using the parameter.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the index information is information for a plurality of indexes characterized by probability of occurrence.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the index information is entropy-decoded by employing the entropy table used exclusively for indexes.

5. The method of claim 1. wherein the entropy table is classified according to data types.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the entropy-decoding the data further comprises entropy-decoding the data in two-dimensional by using the entropy table.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the index information has an index that differs in accordance with combining data coding scheme and entropy coding scheme.

11. A method for processing a signal, comprising:

entropy-encoding data using an entropy table;

generating index information for identifying the entropy table;

entropy-encoding the index information; and

transferring the entropy-encoded index information.

12. An apparatus for processing a signal, comprising:

a encoding part entropy-encoding data using an entropy table;

an information generating part forming index information to identify the entropy table;

an index encoding part entropy-encoding the index information; and

an outputting part transferring the entropy-encoded index information.

13. An apparatus for processing a signal, comprising:

an inputting part receiving index information and data;

an decoding part entropy-decoding the index information;

a identifying part identifying an entropy table corresponding to the entropy-decoded index information; and

a decoding part entropy-decoding the data using the entropy table.

14. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the data is a parameter and the apparatus further comprises a plural-channel generation part reconstructing audio signal using the parameter.

15. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the index information is information for a plurality of indexes characterized by probability of occurrence.

16. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the index information is entropy-decoded by employing an entropy table used exclusively for indexes.

17. The apparatus of claim 13. wherein the entropy table is classified according to data types.

18. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the entropy table is used to entropy-decode the data in two-dimensional.

19. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the index information has an index that differs in accordance with combining data coding scheme and entropy coding scheme.
