Abstract

The present invention relates to a mobile terminal. Specifically to a mobile terminal including a display including a touchscreen, a sensing unit for sensing an object in near-proximity to the touchscreen, a controller for altering an image appearing on the display according to at least one of a duration of the object near the touchscreen and a distance of the object away from the touchscreen.

Claims

1. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a display including a touchscreen;

a sensing unit for sensing an object in near-proximity to the touchscreen; and

a controller for controlling information appearing on the display according to at least one of a duration of the object near the touchscreen, position of the object relative to the touchscreen, distance of the object away from the touchscreen, and movement of the object relative to the touchscreen.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the information controlled is map information displayed on the touch screen.

3. The mobile terminal of claim 2, wherein the controller displays additional information related to a region on a map in near-proximity with the object.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 2, further comprising:

the sensing unit for sensing an object physically contacting the touchscreen;

the controller for applying a zoom-in function on the map information when the object physically contacts the touchscreen; and

the controller applying a zoom-out function on the map information when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

5. The mobile terminal of claim 2, further comprising:

the sensing unit for sensing an object physically contacting the touchscreen;

the controller for applying a zoom-out function on the map information when the object physically contacts the touchscreen; and

the controller applying a zoom-in function on the map information when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

the sensing unit for sensing an object physically contacting the touchscreen;

the controller for expanding the information appearing on the display when the object is physically contacting the touchscreen; and

the controller for reducing the information appearing on the display when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

7. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

the sensing unit for sensing an object physically contacting the touchscreen;

the controller for reducing the information appearing on the display when the object is physically contacting the touchscreen; and

the controller for expanding the information appearing on the display when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

8. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

the controller for applying a scrolling function to the information appearing on a display in a direction related to a predetermined region of the touchscreen the object is in near-proximity with.

9. The mobile terminal of claim 8, wherein the display displays icons corresponding to predetermined regions of the touchscreen indicating scroll directions.

10. The mobile terminal of claim 9, wherein the icons are displayed when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

11. The mobile terminal of claim 8, wherein the controller controls a control speed according to the distance of the object away from the touchscreen.

12. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

the controller applying a reference point and reference lines intersecting the reference point to the information appearing on the display for indicating a location of the object in near-proximity to the touchscreen relative to the displayed information.

13. The mobile terminal of claim 12, wherein the controller fixes the reference point and reference lines displayed when the object physically contacts the touchscreen at the reference point.

14. The mobile terminal of claim 13, further comprising:

the controller distinguishing a designated region of the information appearing on the display when two sets of reference points and reference lines are fixed.

15. A method for altering an image displayed on a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

displaying an original image on a touchscreen;

sensing at least one of a pressure of an object applied to the touchscreen, an area of the object on the touchscreen, and a distance of the object away from the touchscreen;

displaying a first modified image of the original image if the sensing result satisfies a first predetermined condition; and

displaying a second modified image of the original image if the sensing result satisfies a second predetermined condition.

16. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a touchscreen displaying an original image;

a sensing unit for sensing at least one of a pressure of an object applied to the touchscreen, an area of the object on the touchscreen, and a distance of the object away from the touchscreen; and

a controller for displaying a first modified image of the original image if the sensing result satisfies a first predetermined condition, and displaying a second modified image of the original image if the sensing result satisfies a second predetermined condition.

17. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a display including a touchscreen;

a sensing unit for sensing an object in near-proximity to the touchscreen; and

a controller for altering an image appearing on the display according to at least one of a duration of the object near the touchscreen and a distance of the object away from the touchscreen.

18. A method for altering an image displayed on a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

displaying an image on a touchscreen;

sensing an object in near-proximity to the touchscreen; and

controlling information appearing on the display according to at least one of a duration of the object near the touchscreen, position of the object relative to the touchscreen, distance of the object away from the touchscreen, and movement of the object relative to the touchscreen.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the information controlled is map information displayed on the touch screen.

20. The method of claim 19, further comprising displaying additional information related to a region on a map in near-proximity with the object.

21. The method of claim 19, further comprising:

sensing an object physically contacting the touchscreen;

applying a zoom-in function on the map information when the object physically contacts the touchscreen; and

applying a zoom-out function on the map information when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

22. The method of claim 19, further comprising:

sensing an object physically contacting the touchscreen;

applying a zoom-out function on the map information when the object physically contacts the touchscreen; and

applying a zoom-in function on the map information when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

23. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

sensing an object physically contacting the touchscreen;

expanding the information appearing on the display when the object is physically contacting the touchscreen; and

reducing the information appearing on the display when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

24. The mobile terminal of claim 18, further comprising:

sensing an object physically contacting the touchscreen;

reducing the information appearing on the display when the object is physically contacting the touchscreen; and

expanding the information appearing on the display when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

25. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

applying a scrolling function to the information appearing on a display in a direction related to a predetermined region of the touchscreen the object is in near-proximity with.

26. The method of claim 25, further comprising displaying icons corresponding to predetermined regions of the touchscreen indicating scroll directions.

27. The method of claim 26, further comprising displaying the icons when the object is in near-proximity to the touchscreen.

28. The mobile terminal of claim 25, further comprising controlling a control speed according to the distance of the object away from the touchscreen.

29. The mobile terminal of claim 18, further comprising:

applying a reference point and reference lines intersecting the reference point to the information appearing on the display for indicating a location of the object in near-proximity to the touchscreen relative to the displayed information.

30. The mobile terminal of claim 29, further comprising fixating the reference point and reference lines displayed when the object physically contacts the touchscreen at the reference point.

32. The mobile terminal of claim 30, further comprising:

distinguishing a designated region of the information appearing on the display when two sets of reference points and reference lines are fixed.
