Abstract

The present invention describes methods and apparatus to associate video content. An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a method for associating video content involving the steps of requesting a webpage by a user computer and determining whether a keyword is present on the webpage requested by the user computer. Furthermore, the method includes the step of creating a link on the webpage from the keyword to the video file. Additionally, the method involves displaying the video file when the link is activated.

In addition to methods for associating video content, the present invention provides a system for video content association. The system for video content association includes at least one video file stored in a database. Furthermore, the system for video content association includes a video association controller configured to receive a request for video content association when a webpage is requested by a user computer and determine whether the webpage contains at least one keyword. Furthermore, the video association controller is configured to display a link on the webpage from the at least one keyword to the at least one video file.

Claims

1. A method for associating video content, the method comprising:

requesting a webpage by a user computer;

determining whether at least one keyword is present on the webpage requested by the user computer, wherein the determining step involves accessing a keyword association list for the webpage;

creating a link on the webpage from the at least one keyword to the at least one video file; and

displaying the at least one video file when the link is activated.

2. The method for associating video content of claim 1, wherein the keyword association list is created in accordance with a yield optimization algorithm.

3. The method for associating video content of claim 1, wherein the determining step involves parsing the webpage to determine whether the at least one keyword is present in the webpage.

4. The method for associating video content of claim 1, wherein the displaying step includes providing a video player to display the at least one video file.

5. The method for associating video content of claim 4, wherein the video player can be shown as an overlay to the webpage.

6. The method for associating video content of claim 4, wherein the video player can display a plurality of video files.

7. The method for associating video content of claim 4, wherein the video player can display an advertisement.

8. The method for associating video content of claim 1, wherein the at least one video file includes an advertisement.

9. The method for associating video content of claim 8, wherein the advertisement is a pre-roll advertisement displayed prior to the display of the at least one video file.

10. The method for associating video content of claim 1, further comprising the step of tracking a plurality of user activity data at the user computer.

11. The method for associating video content of claim 10, wherein the plurality of user activity data includes whether the link to the at least one video file was activated.

12. The method for associating video content of claim 10, wherein the plurality of user activity data includes how long the at least one video file was played.

13. The method for associating video content of claim 10, wherein step of creating the link can be modified based on the plurality of user activity data collected.

14. The method for associating video content of claim 9, wherein the step of creating the link can occur contemporaneously with the downloading of the webpage onto the user computer.

15. A system for video content association, the system comprising:

at least one video file stored in a database; and

a video association controller configured to;

receive a request for video content association when a webpage is requested by a user computer and determine whether the webpage contains at least one keyword; and

display a link on the webpage from the at least one keyword to the at least one video file.

16. The system for video content association of claim 15, wherein the video association controller is enabled to provide a video player to display the at least one video file on the user computer when the link is activated.

17. The system for video content association of claim 15, further comprising a keyword association list stored in the database relating to the webpage, wherein the video association controller is enabled to access the keyword association list to determine whether the webpage contains the at least one keyword.

18. The system for video content association of claim 15, further comprising a content parser to parse the webpage for the at least one keyword.

19. A method for tracking video content relevancy, the method comprising:

displaying a webpage in a browser;

dynamically creating a plurality of keyword links on the webpage to a plurality of video files;

displaying one of the plurality of video files when the corresponding one of the plurality of keyword links is activated;

monitoring which of the plurality of keyword links is activated; and

assigning a relevancy score to each of the plurality of video files based on whether the keyword link for the video file was activated.

20. The method for tracking video content relevancy of claim 19, wherein a first video file from the plurality of video files with a low relevancy score can be eliminated from association with the plurality of keyword links.
