Abstract

Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for multilingual administration of enterprise data. Embodiments include retrieving enterprise data; extracting text from the enterprise data for rendering from digital media file, the extracted text being in a source language; identifying that the source language is not a predetermined default target language for rendering the enterprise data; translating the extracted text in the source language to translated text in the default target language; converting the translated text to synthesized speech in the default target language; and storing the synthesized speech in the default target language in a digital media file.

Claims

1. A method for multilingual administration of enterprise data, the method comprising:

retrieving enterprise data;

extracting text from the enterprise data for rendering from a digital media file, the extracted text being in a source language;

identifying that the source language is not a predetermined default target language for rendering the enterprise data;

translating the extracted text in the source language to translated text in the default target language;

converting the translated text to synthesized speech in the default target language; and

recording the synthesized speech in the default target language in a digital media file.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

storing the media file on a digital audio player; and

playing the media file on the digital audio player thereby rendering the synthesized speech in the target language.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising storing the translated text as metadata associated with the media file and displaying the metadata describing the media file thereby rendering the translated text of the enterprise data.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising prompting, in response to identifying that the source language is not the predetermined default target language, a user to confirm translation to the default target language.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising receiving from the user a selection of a default target language including receiving through a GUI selection screen a selection of an identification of one of a plurality of available default target languages.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising displaying in a GUI text box the text in the source language together with the translated text in the target language.

7. A system for multilingual administration of enterprise data, the system comprising:

a computer processor;

a computer memory operatively coupled to the computer processor, the computer memory having disposed within it computer program instructions capable of;

retrieving enterprise data;

extracting text from the enterprise data for rendering from a digital media file, the extracted text being in a source language;

identifying that the source language is not a predetermined default target language for rendering the enterprise data;

translating the extracted text in the source language to translated text in the default target language;

converting the translated text to synthesized speech in the default target language; and

recording the synthesized speech in the default target language in a digital media file.

8. The system of claim 7 wherein the computer memory also has disposed within it computer program instructions capable of:

storing the media file on a digital audio player; and

playing the media file on the digital audio player thereby rendering the synthesized speech in the target language.

The system of claim 7 wherein the computer memory also has disposed within it computer program instructions capable of storing the translated text as metadata associated with the media file and displaying the metadata describing the media file thereby rendering the translated text of the enterprise data.

10. The system of claim 7 wherein the computer memory also has disposed within it computer program instructions capable of prompting, in response to identifying that the source language is not the predetermined default target language, a user to confirm translation to the default target language.

The system of claim 7 wherein the computer memory also has disposed within it computer program instructions capable of receiving from the user a selection of a default target language including receiving through a GUI selection screen a selection of an identification of one of a plurality of available default target languages.

12. The system of claim 7 wherein the computer memory also has disposed within it computer program instructions capable of displaying in a GUI text box the text in the source language together with the translated text in the target language.

13. A computer program product for multilingual administration of enterprise data, the computer program product embodied on a computer-readable medium, the computer program product comprising:

computer program instructions for retrieving enterprise data;

computer program instructions for extracting text from the enterprise data for rendering from a digital media file, the extracted text being in a source language;

computer program instructions for identifying that the source language is not a predetermined default target language for rendering the enterprise data;

computer program instructions for translating the extracted text in the source language to translated text in the default target language;

computer program instructions for converting the translated text to synthesized speech in the default target language; and

computer program instructions for recording the synthesized speech in the default target language in a digital media file.

14. The computer program product of claim 13 further comprising:

computer program instructions for storing the media file on a digital audio player; and

computer program instructions for playing the media file on the digital audio player thereby rendering the synthesized speech in the target language.

The computer program product of claim 13 further comprising computer program instructions for storing the translated text as metadata associated with the media file and computer program instructions for displaying the metadata describing the media file thereby rendering the translated text of the enterprise data.

16. The computer program product of claim 13 further comprising computer program instructions for prompting, in response to identifying that the source language is not the predetermined default target language, a user to confirm translation to the default target language.

17. The computer program product of claim 13 further comprising computer program instructions for receiving from the user a selection of a default target language including computer program instructions for receiving through a GUI selection screen a selection of an identification of one of a plurality of available default target languages.

18. The computer program product of claim 13 further comprising computer program instructions for displaying in a GUI text box the text in the source language together with the translated text in the target language.

19. The computer program product of claim 13 wherein the computer-readable medium further comprises a recording medium.

20. The computer program product of claim 13 wherein the computer-readable medium further comprises a transmission medium.
