Abstract

A collaborative information system.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

(a) a first audiovisual device capable of receiving audiovisual content;

(b) said first audiovisual device playing stored audiovisual content after it has been broadcast and altering the manner in which it is played with respect to the manner it was broadcast;

(c) said first audiovisual device capable of providing first data descriptive of said altering of said audiovisual content;

(d) a second audiovisual device capable of receiving said first data descriptive of said altering of said audiovisual content;

(e) said second audiovisual device altering the playing of audiovisual content in part based upon said first data.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein said altering the playing occurs which said first audiovisual device is playing said stored audiovisual content.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein said first data is descriptive of a summarization of a portion of said stored audiovisual content.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein stored audiovisual content is a portion of a video.

5. A system comprising:

(a) a first audiovisual device capable of receiving audiovisual content;

(b) said first audiovisual device providing first data descriptive of audiovisual content;

(c) providing said first data to a second audiovisual device to obtain a recommendation of audiovisual content;

(d) wherein said data is filtered based upon a threshold related to duration of consumption of said audiovisual content.

6. The system of claim 5 wherein said threshold is a temporal duration.

7. A system comprising:

(a) a first audiovisual device capable of receiving audiovisual content;

(b) a second audiovisual device providing first data descriptive of audiovisual content;

(c) providing said first data to said first audiovisual device to obtain a recommendation of audiovisual content;

(d) a second audiovisual device capable of receiving audiovisual content;

(e) a third audiovisual device providing second data descriptive of audiovisual content;

(f) providing said second data to said first audiovisual device to obtain a recommendation of audiovisual content;

(g) wherein said first data and said second data is weighted with a different weighting based upon said second audiovisual device and said third audiovisual device.

8. The system of claim 7 wherein said third audiovisual device is joined to a first group.

9. The system of claim 8 wherein said second audiovisual device is joined to a second group.

10. The system of claim 9 wherein said weighting is based upon said first and second groups.

11. A system comprising:

(a) a first audiovisual device capable of receiving audiovisual content;

(b) said first audiovisual device providing first data descriptive of audiovisual content;

(c) providing said first data to a second audiovisual device to obtain a recommendation of audiovisual content;

(d) wherein said first data is identified with at least one of the following characteristics;

(i) an indication of how said audiovisual content associated with said first data is being consumed;

(ii) an indication of services available from said first audiovisual device;

(iii) an indication of data available from said first audiovisual device.

12. The system of claim 11 wherein said indication includes whether a viewer is currently watching said audiovisual content.

13. The system of claim 11 wherein said indication includes whether a viewer is not currently watching said audiovisual content.

14. A system comprising:

(a) a first audiovisual device capable of receiving audiovisual content;

(b) said first audiovisual device providing first data descriptive of audiovisual content;

(c) providing said first data to a second audiovisual device to obtain a recommendation of audiovisual content;

(d) a remote associated with said second audiovisual device receiving second data to obtain a recommendation of audiovisual content.

15. The system of claim 14 wherein said first data and said second data are the same data.

16. The system of claim 14 wherein said first data and said second data are different data.

17. A system comprising:

(a) a first audiovisual device capable of receiving audiovisual content;

(b) said first audiovisual device receiving first data descriptive of audiovisual content indicative of at least one of (1) skipping ahead;

(2) repeating video segments;

(3) slow play rate;

(4) fast play rate;

(5) normal play rate;

(6) summarization;

(c) a remote associated with said first audiovisual device selecting at least one of said skipping ahead, said repeating video segments, said slow play rate, said fast play rate, said normal play rate, and said summarization.

18. The system of claim 17 wherein said selecting includes said skipping ahead.

19. The system of claim 17 wherein said selecting includes said repeating video segments.

20. The system of claim 17 wherein said selecting includes said slow play rate.

21. The system of claim 17 wherein said selecting includes said fast play rate.

22. The system of claim 17 wherein said selecting includes said normal play rate.

23. The system of claim 17 wherein said selecting includes said summarization.

24. A system comprising:

(a) a first audiovisual device capable of receiving audiovisual content;

(b) said first audiovisual device providing first data descriptive of audiovisual content;

(c) providing said first data to a second audiovisual device to obtain a recommendation of audiovisual content;

(d) wherein said recommendation includes non-linear navigation of said audiovisual content while said first audiovisual device is playing said audiovisual content.
