Abstract

The present disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for displaying node information in wireless sensor networks. An exemplary system has logic that is configured to display a list of nodes in a wireless sensor network. The logic is further configured to display a plurality of function identifiers in response to a first user input identifying one of the nodes, and the function identifiers identify a plurality of functions and a script image of the one node. The logic is further configured to receive a second user input selecting one of the function identifiers and to transmit a remote procedure call through the wireless network to the one node in response to the second user input. The one node is configured to run the function or script image identified by the selected function identifier in response to the remote procedure call.

Claims

1. A system for displaying node information in a wireless sensor network, the wireless sensor network having a plurality of nodes, each of the nodes having a plurality of functions and at least one script image, the system comprising:

memory configured to store a list of nodes of the wireless sensor network; and

logic configured to display the list of nodes and to receive a first user input selecting one of the displayed nodes, the logic further configured to display a plurality of function identifiers in response to the first user input, the function identifiers identifying a plurality of functions and a script image of the one node, the logic further configured to receive a second user input selecting one of the function identifiers and to transmit a remote procedure call through the wireless network to the one node in response to the second user input, wherein the one node is configured to run the function or script image identified by the selected function identifier in response to the remote procedure call.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the logic is configured to display the list of nodes in a first window of a graphical user interface and to display the function identifiers in a second window of the graphical user interface.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the selected function identifier identifies the script image of the one node, and wherein the one node is configured to run the script image of the one node in response to the remote procedure call.

The system of claim 1, wherein the logic is configured to receive a third user input selecting one of the function identifiers identifying the script image of the one node, and wherein the logic is configured to display a script source of the script image of the one node in response to the third user input.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the logic is configured to display the function identifiers as selectable hyperlinks in response to the first user input.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the logic is configured to retrieve the function identifiers from the one node in response to the first user input.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the logic is configured to display a respective node identifier for each node in said list of nodes and a respective value indicative of a quality of a respective communication channel through the wireless sensor network for each node in the list of nodes.

8. A method for displaying node information in a wireless sensor network, the wireless sensor network having a plurality of nodes, each of the nodes having a plurality of functions and at least one script image, the method comprising the steps of:

displaying a list of nodes of the wireless sensor network via a graphical user interface;

receiving a first user input selecting one of the displayed nodes;

displaying, in response to the first user input, a plurality of function identifiers identifying a plurality of functions and a script image of the one node via the graphical user interface;

receiving a second user input selecting one of the function identifiers;

transmitting a remote procedure call through the wireless sensor network to the one node in response to the second user input; and

running on the one node the function or script image identified by the selected function identifier in response to the remote procedure call.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the selected function identifier identifies the script image of the one node.

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising the steps of:

receiving a third user input selecting one of the function identifiers identifying the script image of the one node; and

displaying a script source of the script image of the one node in response to the third user input.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein the displaying the plurality of function identifiers step comprises the step of displaying the function identifiers as selectable hyperlinks in response to the first user input.

12. The method of claim 8, further comprising the step of retrieving the function identifiers from the one node in response to the first user input.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein the displaying the list of nodes step comprises the steps of:

displaying, via the graphical user interface, a respective node identifier for each node in the list of nodes; and

displaying, via the graphical user interface, a respective value indicative of a quality of a respective communication channel through the wireless sensor network for each node in the list of nodes.
