Abstract

A method for displaying a webpage is described. The method involves receiving a broadcast stream including a program, playing the program in the broadcast stream to a viewer, displaying an icon to the viewer and receiving viewer input in response to display of the icon, pausing the playing of the program in response to receiving the viewer input, displaying a web page to the viewer in response to receiving the viewer input, and resuming the playing of the program.

Claims

1. A method for displaying a webpage, comprising:

receiving a broadcast stream comprising a program;

playing the program in the broadcast stream to a viewer;

displaying an icon to the viewer and receiving viewer input in response to displaying of the icon;

in response to receiving the viewer input;

pausing the playing of the program;

displaying a web page to the viewer;

resuming the playing of the program.

2. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein resuming the playing of the program comprises resuming the playing at a point where the playing of the program was paused.

3. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein resuming the playing of the program is responsive to a receiving a second viewer input.

4. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein resuming the playing of the program is subsequent to receiving a command indicating that viewer interaction with the webpage is complete.

5. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising sending the viewer'"'"'s information to a broadcaster in response to receiving the viewer input.

6. The method as recited in claim 1, sending the viewer'"'"'s information directly or indirectly to a manufacturer to generate a lead, in response to receiving the viewer input.

7. An apparatus for displaying a web page, comprising:

a processor;

a receiving subsystem for receiving a broadcast stream comprising a program;

a playing subsystem for playing the program in the broadcast stream to a viewer;

a displaying subsystem for displaying an icon to the viewer and receiving viewer input in response to displaying of the icon;

the playing subsystem for pausing the playing of the program, in response to receiving the viewer input; and

the displaying subsystem for displaying a web page to the viewer, in response to receiving the viewer input; and

the playing subsystem for resuming the playing of the program.

8. The apparatus as recited in claim 7, wherein resuming the playing of the program comprises resuming the playing of the program at a point where the playing of the program was paused.

9. The apparatus as recited in claim 7, the receiving subsystem receives a second user input, wherein resuming the playing of the program is responsive to receiving the second viewer input.

10. The apparatus as recited in claim 7, the receiving subsystem receives a command indicating that viewer interaction with the webpage is complete, wherein resuming the playing of the program is subsequent to receiving the command indicating that viewer interaction with the webpage is complete.

11. The apparatus as recited in claim 7, further comprising a sending subsystem for sending the viewer'"'"'s information to a broadcaster in response to receiving the user input.

12. The apparatus as recited in claim 7, further comprising a sending subsystem for sending the viewer'"'"'s information directly or indirectly to a manufacturer to generate a lead, in response to the viewer input.

13. A computer readable storage medium comprising software instructions, which when executed by a processor, perform:

receiving a broadcast stream comprising a program;

playing the program in the broadcast stream to a viewer;

displaying an icon to the viewer and receiving viewer input in response to displaying of the icon;

in response to receiving the viewer input;

pausing the playing of the program;

displaying a web page to the viewer;

resuming the playing of the program.

14. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 13, wherein resuming the playing of the program comprises resuming the playing at a point where the playing of the program was paused.

15. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 13, wherein resuming the playing of the program is responsive to a receiving a second viewer input.

16. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 13, wherein resuming the playing of the program is subsequent to receiving a command indicating that viewer interaction with the webpage is complete.

17. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 13, further comprising software instructions, which when executed by a processor, further perform sending the viewer'"'"'s information in response to receiving the viewer input.

18. The computer readable storage medium as recited in claim 13, further comprising software instructions, which when executed by a processor, further perform sending the viewer'"'"'s information to a manufacturer to generate a lead, in response to receiving the viewer input.
