Abstract

A device and method for receiving, by a mobile terminal, system information from a base station. The method includes: receiving a block of first system information from the base station via a broadcast channel configured to broadcast only system information; and receiving a plurality of blocks of second system information from the base station via a downlink shared channel configured to carry system information and other data, one of the plurality of blocks of second system information including scheduling information.

Claims

1. A method for receiving, by a mobile terminal, system information from a base station, comprising:

receiving a block of first system information from the base station via a broadcast channel configured to broadcast only system information; and

receiving a plurality of blocks of second system information from the base station via a downlink shared channel configured to carry system information and other data, one of the plurality of blocks of second system information including scheduling information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the one of the plurality of blocks of second system information further includes at least one of value tag information and cell access related information.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the cell access related information comprises at least one of PLMN (Public Land Mobile Network) identity information, tracking area identity information and cell barred information.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the scheduling information is for receiving a first plurality of blocks of second system information other than the one of the plurality of blocks of second system information including the scheduling information.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the scheduling information includes at least one of periodicity information and mapping information.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the block of first system information includes at least one of bandwidth information and parameter information on a physical layer.

7. The method of claim 4, wherein the first plurality of blocks of second system information are related to at least one of:

common or shared channel related information;

call transmission information;

a cell select related information;

a positioning related information; and

a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) related information.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the downlink shared channel supports HARQ (hybrid automatic repeat request) scheme.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the broadcast channel is a static channel.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein the block of first system information includes at least one of bandwidth information and parameter information on a physical layer.

10. A method for transmitting, by a base station, system information to at least one mobile terminal, comprising:

transmitting a block of first system information to the at least one mobile terminal via a broadcast channel configured to broadcast only system information; and

transmitting a plurality of blocks of second system information to the at least one mobile terminal via a downlink shared channel configured to carry system information and other data, one of the plurality of blocks of second system information including scheduling information.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the one of the plurality of blocks of second system information further includes at least one of value tag information and cell access related information.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the cell access related information comprises at least one of PLMN (Public Land Mobile Network) identity information, tracking area identity information and cell barred information.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein the scheduling information is for the at least one mobile terminal to receive a first plurality of blocks of second system information other than the one of the plurality of blocks of second system information including the scheduling information.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the scheduling information includes at least one of periodicity information and mapping information.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the first plurality of blocks of second system information are related to at least one of:

common or shared channel related information;

call transmission information;

a cell select related information;

a positioning related information; and

a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) related information.

17. The method of claim 10, wherein the downlink shared channel supports HARQ (hybrid automatic repeat request) scheme.

18. The method of claim 10, wherein the broadcast channel is a static channel.
