Abstract

Power supply equipment includes circuitry for converting an input voltage to first and second DC output voltages. At least one of the output voltages is programmable in response to a voltage control signal. A first output port provides the first DC output voltage to a first electronic device and a second output port provides the second DC output voltage to a second electronic device. The conversion circuitry provides power sufficient to simultaneously power the first electronic device at the first DC voltage and the second electronic device at the second DC voltage.

Claims

1. Power supply equipment comprising:

an input terminal to receive an input voltage;

circuitry for converting the input voltage to first and second DC output voltages, at least one of which is programmable in response to a voltage control signal provided to the circuitry;

a first output port coupled to the circuitry to provide the first DC output voltage to a first electronic device external to the power supply equipment; and

a second output port coupled to the circuitry to provide the second DC output voltage to a second electronic device external to the power supply equipment, the second output port being separately disposed from the first output port,

wherein the circuitry provides power sufficient to simultaneously power the first electronic device at the first DC voltage and the second electronic device at the second DC voltage.

2. The power supply equipment of claim 1, wherein the input voltage is an AC input voltage.

3. The power supply equipment of claim 1 wherein the input voltage is a DC input voltage.

4. The power supply equipment of claim 1, including a connector adapter for coupling to one of the electronic devices, wherein the connector adapter has a configuration which determines a value for the voltage control signal.

5. The power supply equipment of claim 4, wherein the configuration of the connector adapter is an electrical configuration.

6. The power supply equipment of claim 5, wherein the connector adapter includes at least one electrical component.

7. The power supply equipment of claim 6, wherein the at least one electrical component is a resistor.

8. The power supply equipment of claim 1, including a switch which determines a value of the voltage control signal.

9. The power supply equipment of claim 8, wherein the switch is a mechanical switch.

10. The power supply equipment of claim 8, wherein the switch is an electronic switch.

11. Power supply equipment comprising:

an input terminal to receive an input voltage;

a transformer having at least one primary winding and at least one secondary winding;

a switching circuit coupled between the input terminal and the at least one primary winding for providing alternating current to the at least one primary winding;

circuitry coupled to the at least one secondary winding to provide first and second DC output voltages, at least one of which is programmable in response to a voltage control signal;

a first output port coupled to the circuitry to provide the first DC output voltage to a first electronic device external to the power supply equipment; and

a second output port coupled to the circuitry to provide the second DC output voltage to a second electronic device external to the power supply equipment, the second output port being separately disposed from the first output port,

wherein the power supply equipment provides power sufficient to simultaneously power the first electronic device at the first DC voltage and the second electronic device at the second DC voltage.

12. The power supply equipment of claim 11, wherein the input voltage is an AC input voltage.

13. The power supply equipment of claim 11 wherein the input voltage is a DC input voltage.

14. The power supply equipment of claim 11, including a connector adapter for coupling to one of the electronic devices, wherein the connector adapter has a configuration which determines a value for the voltage control signal.

15. The power supply equipment of claim 14, wherein the configuration of the connector adapter is an electrical configuration.

16. The power supply equipment of claim 15, wherein the connector adapter includes at least one electrical component.

17. The power supply equipment of claim 16, wherein the at least one electrical component is a resistor.

18. The power supply equipment of claim 11, including a switch which determines a value of the voltage control signal.

19. The power supply equipment of claim 18, wherein the switch is a mechanical switch.

20. The power supply equipment of claim 18, wherein the switch is an electronic switch.
