Abstract

Systems and/or methods are disclosed for generating a waveform that comprises a plurality of elements by using a Fourier transform and/or an inverse Fourier transform. The waveform that comprises the plurality of elements may be transmitted by transmitting, sequentially in time, the plurality of elements. In some embodiments, the Fourier transform and/or inverse Fourier transform comprises a Fast Fourier Transform and/or Inverse Fast Fourier Transform and the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements may be transmitted by using, sequentially in time, the plurality of elements to modulate a sinusoidal waveform.

Claims

1. A communications method comprising:

generating at a transmitter a waveform that comprises a plurality of elements;

wherein generating at a transmitter a waveform that comprises a plurality of elements comprises using at the transmitter a Fourier transform and/or an inverse Fourier transform to generate the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements;

transmitting the waveform from the transmitter by transmitting by the transmitter, sequentially in time, the plurality of elements; and

receiving a waveform by using a Fourier transform and/or an inverse Fourier transform.

2. A communications method according to claim 1, wherein using at the transmitter a Fourier transform and/or an inverse Fourier transform to generate the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements comprises:

using a Discrete Fourier Transform and/or a Fast Fourier Transform.

3. A communications method according to claim 1, wherein using at the transmitter a Fourier transform and/or an inverse Fourier transform to generate the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements comprises:

using an Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform and/or an Inverse Fast Fourier Transform.

4. A communications method according to claim 1, wherein transmitting the waveform from the transmitter by transmitting by the transmitter, sequentially in time, the plurality of elements comprises:

sequentially using the plurality of elements at the transmitter to modulate a sinusoidal waveform.

5. A transceiver comprising:

a system that is configured to generate a waveform that comprises a plurality of elements by using a Fourier transform and/or an inverse Fourier transform in order to generate the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements and to transmit the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements by transmitting, sequentially in time, the plurality of elements;

wherein the system is further configured to receive a waveform by using a Fourier transform and/or an inverse Fourier transform.

6. A transceiver according to claim 5, wherein the Fourier transform and/or inverse Fourier transform that is used by the system to generate the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements comprises:

a Discrete Fourier Transform and/or a Fast Fourier Transform.

7. A transceiver according to claim 5, wherein the Fourier transform and/or inverse Fourier transform that is used by the system to generate the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements comprises:

an Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform and/or an Inverse Fast Fourier Transform.

8. A transceiver according to claim 5, wherein the system is further configured to transmit the waveform that comprises the plurality of elements by sequentially using the plurality of elements to modulate a sinusoidal waveform.

9. A transceiver according to claim 8, wherein the sinusoidal waveform comprises only a single sinusoidal waveform.
