Abstract

Systems and methods of placing a telephone call for a user include monitoring the telephone number that the user has requested to reach. Depending upon the telephone number requested by the user, the system might take an alternate action, rather than simply placing a call to the requested telephone number. In some instances, the system might take an action in addition to placing a call to the requested telephone number.

Claims

1. A method of responding to a request to place a telephone call, comprising:

monitoring, when a user requests that a telephone call be placed, the telephone number of the called party;

determining whether to take an action in addition to or other than placing the telephone call as requested by the user; and

connecting the telephone call normally if the result of the determining step indicates that no alternate or additional action should be taken;

taking alternate or additional action if the result of the determining step indicates that an alternate or additional action should be taken.
