Abstract

A method and apparatus for transmitting a groupcast to support a voice paging service in a VoIP system are provided. In the method, a voice paging message is received from a voice paging transmitting terminal and one or more voice paging messages are reproduced from the received voice paging message. A group table is used to change the destination address and port of each of the reproduced voice paging messages into the IP address and port of each of one or more voice paging receiving terminals. Each of the reproduced voice paging messages is unicast on the basis of the changed IP address and port.

Claims

1. A method for transmitting a groupcast to support a voice paging service in a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system, the method comprising:

receiving a voice paging message from a voice paging transmitting terminal and reproducing one or more voice paging messages from the received voice paging message;

changing the destination address and port of each of the reproduced voice paging messages into the IP address and port of each of one or more voice paging receiving terminals using a group table; and

unicasting each of the reproduced voice paging messages on the basis of the changed IP address and port.

The method of claim 1, wherein the group table comprises one or more of the IP address and port of a voice paging transmitting terminal, the IP address and port of each of one or more voice paging receiving terminals, a Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) port, group index information, and Quality of Service (QoS) information.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

filtering the received voice paging message on the basis of the destination address and port and source address and port of the received voice paging message when receiving the voice paging message from the voice paging transmitting terminal.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

if the source address and port of the received voice paging message is different from the source address and port of the group table, performing a Network Address Translation (NAT) operation by detecting a message generated by the terminal receiving the corresponding voice paging message; and

updating the address and port of the group table on the basis of the message generated by the terminal receiving the corresponding voice paging.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the performing of the NAT operation comprises redirecting the voice paging message by changing the address and port on the basis of the message generated by the terminal receiving the corresponding voice paging message.

The method of claim 5, wherein, the redirecting of the voice paging message comprises verifying the destination address and port of the received packet, comparing the source address and ports, if they are not identical, determining the existence of a NAT for a VoIP phone, and changing the group table by the received source address and port.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

unicasting the voice paging message to the changed address and port after updating the address and port of the group table.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

configuring the group table,

wherein the configuring of the group table comprises receiving a setup message from the voice paging transmitting terminal to determine the IP address and port of the voice paging transmitting terminal, and transmitting a setup request message to the voice paging receiving terminals and receiving a response message thereof to determine a Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) port and the IP address and port of each of the voice paging receiving terminals.

The apparatus of claim 7, wherein, to configure the group table, the VoIP exchanger receives a setup message from the source terminal to determine the IP address and port of a voice paging transmitting terminal, and transmits a setup request message to the destination terminals and receives a response message thereof to determine a Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) port and the IP address and port of each of the destination terminals.

9. An apparatus for transmitting a groupcast to support a voice paging service in a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) system, the apparatus comprising:

a source terminal for requesting a voice paging service to transmit a voice paging message to one or more destination terminals; and

a VoIP exchanger for receiving the voice paging message from the source terminal to reproduce one or more voice paging messages from the received voice paging message, changing the destination address and port of each of the reproduced voice paging messages into the IP address and port of each of the destination terminals using a group table, and for unicasting each of the reproduced voice paging messages on the basis of the IP address and port,

wherein the one or more destination terminals receive the reproduced voice paging messages.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the group table includes one or more of the IP address and port of the source terminal, the IP address and port of each of the destination terminals, a Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) port, group index information, and Quality of Service (QoS) information.

11. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the VoIP exchanger filters the received voice paging message on the basis of the destination address and port and source address and port of the received voice paging message when receiving the voice paging message from the source terminal.

The apparatus of claim 9, wherein if the source port of the received voice paging message is different from the source port of the group table, the VoIP exchanger performs a Network Address Translation (NAT) operation by detecting a message generated by the destination terminal receiving the corresponding voice paging message and updates the port of the group table on the basis of the message generated by the destination terminal receiving the corresponding voice paging.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the VoIP exchanger redirects the voice paging message by changing the IP address and port on the basis of the message generated by the terminal receiving the corresponding voice paging message.

14. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the VoIP exchanger verifies the destination address and port of the received packet, compares the source address and ports, if they are not identical, determines the existence of a NAT for a VoIP phone, and changes the group table by the received source port.

15. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the VoIP exchanger unicasts the voice paging message to the changed port after updating the port of the group table.
