Abstract

The disclosure provides an HVAC data processing and communication network and a method of manufacturing the same. In an embodiment, the method includes configuring a user interface to receive a first parameter setting associated with a system device. The user interface is further configured to send a message to the system device including the first parameter setting. The user interface is further configured to receive from the system device a second parameter setting that is dependent on the first parameter setting. The user interface is further configured to make the second parameter setting available for viewing.

Claims

1. A method of manufacturing an HVAC data processing and communication system, comprising:

configuring a user interface to;

receive a first parameter setting associated with a system device;

send a message to said system device including said first parameter setting;

receive from said system device a second parameter setting that is dependent on said first parameter setting; and

make said second parameter setting available for viewing.

2. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising configuring said user interface to make said second parameter available for viewing until said second parameter setting is acknowledged.

3. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein data entry via said user interface is disabled until said second parameter setting is acknowledged.

4. The method as recited in claim 2 or claim 3, wherein said second parameter setting is acknowledged by selecting a touch sensitive location on a display screen.

5. The method as recited in claim 2 or claim 503, wherein said second parameter setting is acknowledged by selecting a display field of a remote display terminal.

6. The method as recited in claim 1, further comprising configuring said user interface to highlight said second parameter setting.

7. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein said user interface is an internet gateway.

8. The method as recited in claim 1, wherein said user interface includes a web browser.

9. An HVAC data processing and communication system, comprising:

a user interface configured to;

receive a first parameter setting associated with a system device;

send a message to said system device including said first parameter setting;

receive from said system device a second parameter setting that is dependent on said first parameter setting; and

make said second parameter setting available for viewing.

10. The system as recited in claim 9, wherein said user interface is further configured to make said second parameter available for viewing until said second parameter setting is acknowledged.

11. The system as recited in claim 9, wherein data entry via said user interface is disabled until said second parameter setting is acknowledged.

12. The system as recited in claim 10 or claim 11, wherein said second parameter setting is acknowledged by selecting a touch sensitive location on a display screen.

13. The system as recited in claim 10 or claim 11, wherein said second parameter setting is acknowledged by selecting a display field of a remote display terminal.

14. The system as recited in claim 9, wherein said user interface is further configured to highlight said second parameter setting.

15. The system as recited in claim 9, wherein said user interface includes an internet gateway.

16. The system as recited in claim 9, wherein said user interface includes a web browser.

18. The network as recited in claim 14, further comprising a sensor configured to sense a plurality of ambient environmental characteristics and to send said first message.

19. The network as recited in claim 15, wherein said plurality includes temperature and relative humidity.

20. The network as recited in claim 14, further comprising a sensor configured to send a plurality of messages to said controller, each message reporting only one of a plurality of ambient environmental characteristics.

17. An HVAC data processing and communication network, comprising:

a subnet controller configured to receive a first message including environmental data; and

a user interface configured to;

receive a second message including said environmental data from said controller; and

display said environmental data.
