Abstract

Disclosed is a method for controlling a display and a display using the same. The method includes: detecting the approach of a user'"'"'s hand to the display unit, determining a user'"'"'s input hand shape; and displaying a display screen corresponds to the determined user'"'"'s input hand shape. Through the present invention, a user may render a higher menu list and a lower menu list to be displayed on one screen, and may control display screen shift direction and speed, merely by performing a finger extending and folding action. Further, the user may control the size of a display screen by inputting the finger extending and folding action.

Claims

1. A method of controlling a display of a device having a display unit, comprising:

detecting the approach of a user'"'"'s hand to the display unit;

determining a user'"'"'s input hand shape; and

displaying a display screen corresponds to the determined user'"'"'s input hand shape.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein detecting the approach of a user'"'"'s hand to the display unit comprises:

detecting the approach of a user'"'"'s hand to the display unit by detecting light reflected by the user'"'"'s hand.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

detecting the change of the user'"'"'s input hand shape.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein determining a user'"'"'s input hand shape comprises:

identifying an image information item corresponding to the detected light among one or more image information items; and

determining the user'"'"'s input hand shape using the identified image information item.

5. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein determining a user'"'"'s input hand shape comprises determining the number of the user'"'"'s extended fingers.

6. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein determining a user'"'"'s input hand shape further comprising determining a location of the user'"'"'s input hand shape.

7. The method of claim 3, wherein detecting the change of the user'"'"'s input hand shape comprises determining change in an amount area of the user'"'"'s input hand.

8. The method as claimed in claim 5, further comprising:

determining a menu list depth corresponding to the determined number of the user'"'"'s extended fingers.

9. The method as claimed in claim 8, wherein displaying a display screen corresponds to the determined user'"'"'s input hand shape comprises displaying the plurality of menu lists in sequence from a first depth to the determined menu list depth.

10. The method of claim 6, wherein displaying a display screen corresponds to the determined user'"'"'s input hand shape comprises displaying a menu list on the determined location corresponds to a point at which the user'"'"'s finger is located.

11. The method as claimed in claim 5, further comprising:

determining a display screen shift speed based on the determined number of the user'"'"'s extended fingers.

12. The method as claimed in claim 11, wherein displaying a display screen corresponds to the determined user'"'"'s input hand shape comprises shifting a display screen at the determined display screen shift speed and displaying a new display screen after screen.

13. The method as claimed in claim 7, further comprising:

determining the size of the display screen corresponding to an amount of changed area of the user'"'"'s input hand.

14. The method as claimed in claim 13, wherein displaying a display screen corresponds to the determined user'"'"'s input hand shape comprises adjusting the display screen based on the determined size of the display screen.

15. A display device comprising:

a sensor unit for detecting light reflected by a user'"'"'s hand a control unit for determining a user'"'"'s input hand shape based on the reflected light; and

a display unit for displaying a display screen corresponds to the determined user'"'"'s input hand shape.

16. The display device as claimed in claim 15, wherein the control unit determines the user'"'"'s input hand shape by determining the number of the user'"'"'s extended fingers or determining a change in an amount of area of the user'"'"'s hand.

17. The display device as claimed in claim 16, wherein the control unit determines a menu list depth or a display screen shift speed corresponding to the determined number of the user'"'"'s extended fingers.

18. The display device as claimed in claim 15, wherein the control unit determines the size of the display screen corresponding to a change in an amount area of the user'"'"'s hand.

19. The display device as claimed in claim 17, wherein the display unit displays a plurality of menu lists in sequence from a first depth to the determined menu list depth or shifts a display screen at the determined display screen shift speed.

20. The display device as claimed in claim 18, wherein the display unit adjusts the display screen based on the determined size of the display screen.
