Abstract

A system and automated method for verification of employment history regarding a job applicant, the method including receiving information identifying an applicant, receiving employment history information for the job applicant, receiving information identifying an identified verification contact for verification of the employment history information, automatically providing the identified verification contact with a question pertaining to employment history information, receiving an answer from the identified verification contact, storing the answer.

Claims

1. An automated method for verification of employment history regarding a job applicant comprising:

receiving information identifying an applicant;

receiving employment history information for the job applicant;

receiving information identifying an identified verification contact for verification of the employment history information;

automatically providing the identified verification contact with a question pertaining to employment history information;

receiving an answer from the identified verification contact;

storing the answer.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the received employment history information is provided by a job applicant.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the information identifying the identified verification contact is provided by a job applicant.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the information identifying the identified verification contact is provided by an automated verification contact lookup.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the question pertaining to employment history information is provided to the identified verification contact by email.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the question pertaining to employment history information is provided to the identified verification contact on a website.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the answer from the identified verification contact is received by email.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the answer from the identified verification contact is received by entry through a website.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the received information identifies a plurality of contacts for verification of the employment history information.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the identified verification contact is provided with a plurality of questions.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the answer from the identified verification contact is available within a job board for candidates searching.

3. The method of claim I, wherein the received employment history information is provided by an applicant tracking system.

13. An automated method for verification of background information regarding a job applicant comprising:

receiving information identifying an applicant;

receiving background information for the job applicant;

receiving information identifying an identified verification contact for verification of the background information;

automatically providing the identified verification contact with a question pertaining to background information;

receiving an answer from the identified verification contact;

storing the answer.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the received background information contains information about a job applicant'"'"'s educational history.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the received background information contains information about a job applicant'"'"'s personal references.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the received background information is provided by a job applicant.

17. The method of claim 13, wherein the received background information is provided by an applicant tracking system.

18. The method of claim 13, wherein the received background information is provided by a commercial background check.

19. The method of claim 13, wherein the information identifying the identified verification contact is provided by a job applicant.

20. The method of claim 13, wherein the information identifying the identified verification contact is provided by an automated verification contact lookup.

21. The method of claim 13, wherein the question pertaining to background information is provided to the identified verification contact by email.

22. The method of claim 13, wherein the question pertaining to background information is provided to the identified verification contact on a website.

23. The method of claim 13, wherein the answer from the identified verification contact is received by email.

24. The method of claim 13, wherein the answer from the identified verification contact is received by entry through a website.

25. The method of claim 13, wherein the received information identifies a plurality of identified verification contacts for verification of the employment history information.

26. The method of claim 13, wherein the identified verification contact is provided with a plurality of questions.

27. An automated method for minimizing human review of employment applications from a pool of applicants comprising:

receiving employment application information;

providing an automated request to an applicant for authorization to process the application;

receiving a response to the request for authorization;

narrowing the pool of applicants to those who have provided a response.

28. The method of claim 27, wherein the automated request to the applicant for authorization is sent by email.

29. The method of claim 27, wherein the automated request to the applicant for authorization is transmitted through a website.

30. The method of claim 27, wherein the automated request to the applicant for authorization includes a request for authorization to perform a background check.

31. The method of claim 27, wherein the automated request to the applicant for authorization includes a request for authorization to perform a credit check.

32. The method of claim 27, wherein the automated request to the applicant for authorization includes a request for authorization to perform an employment history verification.

33. The method of claim 27, wherein the automated request to the applicant for authorization is a request for authorization to perform an education history verification.

34. The method of claim 27, wherein the employment application information is received from an applicant tracking system.

35. The method of claim 27, wherein the employment application information is received from an applicant.

36. The method of claim 27, wherein the employment application information is received from a job board.

37. The method of claim 27, additionally comprising:

transmitting information about the pool of applicants to an applicant tracking system.

38. The method of claim 27, wherein the list of the narrowed pool of applicants is presented on a computer display.

39. The method of claim 27, wherein the list of the narrowed pool of applicants is transmitted to an applicant tracking system.

40. The method of claim 27, wherein the list of the narrowed pool of applicants is transmitted by email.

41. An automated method for the research or sharing of individual personal information comprising:

providing a computer interface for use by a first individual to receive personal information pertaining to a second individual over a network;

providing a computer interface for use by the second individual to provide personal information over a network;

providing a computer interface for use by data vendors to provide personal information pertaining to a second individual over a network.

42. The method of claim 41, wherein the first individual is an employer and the second individual is a prospective employee.

43. The method of claim 41, wherein the interface is a web based computer interface.

44. The method of claim 41, wherein the network is a public network.

45. The method of claim 41, wherein the personal information is identification information.

46. The method of claim 41, wherein the computer interface for use by a second individual limits access to a second individual'"'"'s personal information by others.

47. The method of claim 41, wherein the computer interface for use by a second individual implements process of authorizing background research by data providers.

48. The method of claim 41, wherein the computer interface for use by data vendors displays orders for information pertaining to a second individual.

49. An automated method for the research or sharing of individual personal information comprising:

providing a computer interface for use by a first individual to receive personal information pertaining to a second individual over a network;

providing a computer interface for use by the second individual to provide personal information over a network;

providing a computer interface for use by data vendors to provide personal information pertaining to a second individual over a network.

50. An automated system for researching or sharing preverifications in the form of personal information reports comprising:

a network interface;

a member database accessed through a network interface by a member, an employer, or a data provider and storing member information; and

an employer database accessed through the network interface by an employer, a member, or a data provider and storing employer information; and

a background search request database accessed through the network interface by the data provider and storing orders for preverifications; and

an auxiliary information database accessed through the network interface by the member, the employer, or the data provider and storing system management information; and

a server coupled to the member database, employer database, background search request database, and auxiliary information database wherein the server is configured to provide a computer interface for use by a first individual to receive personal information pertaining to a second individual over a network, provide a computer interface for use by a second individual to provide personal information over a network, and provide a computer interface for use by data vendors to provide personal information pertaining to a second individual over a network.

51. A server for an automated personal information research or sharing system, the server comprising:

a processor; and

memory operably coupled to a processor for storing program instructions, the processor being operable to execute the program instructions, the program instructions including;

providing a computer interface for use by a first individual to receive personal information pertaining to a second individual over a network;

providing a computer interface for use by a second individual to provide personal information over a network;

providing a computer interface for use by data vendors to provide personal information pertaining to a second individual over a network.
