ACTIVITY MONITOR
First Claim
1. An activity monitor that has a sensor for sensing movement, a processor for processing sensed data and a memory, wherein the processor is configured to use the sensed data to determine the number of steps taken for each of a plurality of defined time periods and to determine a measure of the fraction of each defined time period spent stepping, the monitor being configured to record in the memory at least two of the number of steps;
- the measure of the fraction of each defined time period spent stepping and a measure of cadence calculated using the number of steps and the fraction of each defined time period spent stepping.

Abstract
An activity monitor that has a sensor for sensing movement, a processor for processing sensed data and a memory, wherein the processor is configured to use the sensed data to determine the number of steps taken for each of a plurality of epochs and to determine a measure of the fraction of each epoch spent stepping, the monitor being configured to record in a long term part of the memory at least two of the number of steps; the measure of the fraction of each epoch spent stepping and a measure of cadence calculated using the number of steps and the fraction of each epoch spent stepping.
