Abstract

A method and system for managing awareness information relating to a mobile device'"'"'s visibility with respect to other buddy devices, the system comprising; the mobile device, a mobile application listing one or more buddies, an application listener which tracks the one or more buddies zoom operations and radar zoom factors, and a server, the server comprising an encounter manager, an approach manager and a notification marshalling system.

Claims

1. A system for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility, comprising:

the mobile device;

a mobile application listing one or more buddies;

an application listener tracking the one or more buddies zoom, pan operations and radar zoom factors; and

a server, comprising an encounter manager, an approach manager and a notification marshalling system.

2. The system for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 1, further comprising a learning component.

3. The system for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 1, wherein the encounter manager receives input of an encounter horizon.

4. A method for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility, comprising:

inputting one or more buddies into a user'"'"'s mobile application;

listening to zoom, pan operations and radar zoom factors of the one or more buddies;

determining an impending detection of the user'"'"'s location;

notifying the user that his location will be detected by the one or more buddies;

choosing a visibility option; and

effecting the chosen visibility option across one or more buddy'"'"'s application.

5. The method for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 4, wherein the visibility option is to appear on a buddy'"'"'s radar.

6. The method for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 4, wherein the visibility option is to not appear on a buddy'"'"'s radar.

7. The method for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 4, wherein the visibility option is to appear as an anonymized profile on a buddy'"'"'s radar.

8. The method for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 4, wherein the visibility option is to appear on a buddy'"'"'s radar after a specific length of time.

9. The method for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 4, wherein the impending detection of the user'"'"'s location occurs at a predetermined encounter horizon.

10. The method for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 4, wherein the notifying of the user is a textual message notification.

11. The method for managing a mobile device'"'"'s visibility of claim 4, wherein the notifying of the user is a graphical message notification.
