Abstract

A method performed by a user device may include determining a geographical position of the device, receiving a description of the geographical position, receiving a selection of one or more individuals to share the geographical position and the description, and saving the geographical position and the description, on another device, to permit access to the geographical position and the description, on the other device, according to the selection of the one or more individuals. Another method performed by a user device may include determining a geographical position of the user device, receiving reminder information that is tied with the geographical position, receiving a selection of a user in which the reminder information and the geographical position pertains, and notifying the user of the reminder information a next time that the user device is at or within a specified distance from the geographical position. A further method performed by a user device may include determining a geographical position of the user device, creating a text message that integrates the geographical position in an attachment that causes a recipient user device to perform an automatic wake-up call of a position-based application for locating the geographical position of the user device, and transmitting the text message that integrates the geographical position to the recipient user device.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

determining, by a user device, a geographical position of the user device;

receiving, by the user device, a description of the geographical position;

receiving, by the user device, a selection of one or more individuals to share the geographical position and the description; and

saving, by the user device, the geographical position and the description, on another device, to permit access to the geographical position and the description, on the other device, according to the selection of the one or more individuals.

2. The method of claim 1, where the selection of the one or more individuals corresponds to one or more individuals associated with at least one of a contacts list, a social network, a blog, or a wiki.

3. The method of claim 1, where the description includes a user'"'"'s reason to visit the geographical position.

4. The method of claim 1, where the description includes a picture of the geographical position or a video clip of the geographical position.

5. The method of claim 1, where the determining comprises:

determining a direction a user of the user device is facing, and where the geographical position includes the direction the user is facing.

6. The method of claim 1, where the other device corresponds to a Web server, and the method further comprising:

notifying, by the Web server, to the one or more individuals, of the geographical position and the description.

7. A method comprising:

determining, by a user device, a geographical position of the user device;

receiving, by the user device, reminder information that is associated with the geographical position;

receiving, by the user device, a selection of a user to which the reminder information and the geographical position pertains; and

notifying, by the user device, the user of the reminder information a next time that the user device is at, or within a specified distance from, the geographical position.

8. The method of claim 7, where the reminder information includes information for the user to remember to do something while at, or within the specified distance from, the geographical position.

9. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

receiving, by the user device, a user preference that indicates at least one of;

the specified distance from the geographical position the user must be before the notifying occurs;

a manner in which the user is to be notified;

or

a frequency in which the user is to be notified.

10. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

determining the next time, by the user device, a next time geographical position of the user device;

comparing, by the user device, the next time geographical position with the geographical position tied with the reminder information; and

determining, by the user device, whether a distance between the next time geographical position and the geographical position tied with the reminder information is equal to or less than the specified distance.

11. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

storing, by the user device, the reminder information and the geographical position on a server; and

accessing the server to query the reminder information and the geographical position.

12. A method comprising:

determining, by the user device, a geographical position of the user device;

creating, by the user device, a text message that integrates the geographical position in an attachment that causes a recipient user device to perform an automatic wake-up call of a position-based application for locating the geographical position of the user device; and

transmitting, by the user device, the text message that integrates the geographical position, to the recipient user device.

13. The method of claim 12, where the text message corresponds to a short messaging service message or a multimedia messaging service message.

14. The method of claim 12, where the attachment includes a script that causes the recipient user device to launch the position-based application.

15. A user device comprising:

a memory to store instructions; and

a processor to execute the instructions in the memory to;

determine a geographical position of the user device;

receive a description of a location corresponding to the geographical position;

receive a user'"'"'s comment indicating an activity to perform at the geographic position;

receive a selection of one or more users in which the geographical position, the user'"'"'s comment, and the description is to be shared; and

saving the geographical position, the description, and the user'"'"'s comment on another device that is accessible to the one or more users.

16. The user device of claim 15, where the one or more users correspond to one or more users associated with at least one of a contacts list, a social network, a blog, or a wiki.

17. The user device of claim 15, further comprising a global positioning system receiver.

18. The user device of claim 15, where the user device includes a mobile telephone.

19. A user device, comprising:

a memory to store instructions; and

a processor to execute the instructions in the memory to;

determine a geographical position of the user device;

receive reminder information that indicates to a user to do something another time the user is at or within a specified distance from the geographical position; and

notify the user of the reminder information the other time the user is at or within the specified distance from the geographical position.

20. The user device of claim 19, where the user device is further configured to:

receive a user preference that indicates at least one of the specified distance, a manner in which the user is to be notified, or a frequency in which the user is to be notified.

21. The user device of claim 20, where the manner in which the user is to be notified includes at least one of an e-mail, a text message, an audio alert, or a video clip.

22. The user device of claim 20, where the frequency in which the user is to be notified includes a particular day and time.

23. A user device, comprising:

a memory to store instructions; and

a processor to execute the instructions in the memory to;

determine a geographical position of the user device;

create a text message having one or more recipients, where the text message integrates the geographical positional characteristics associated with the geographical position in an attachment that causes one or more recipient user devices to perform an automatic launching of a position-based application for navigating to the geographical position of the user device; and

transmit the text message to the one or more recipient user devices.

24. The user device of claim 23, where the text message corresponds to a short messaging service message or a multimedia messaging service message.

25. The user device of claim 23 comprising a global positioning system receiver.
