Abstract

Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for presenting a selected media message to a first user. The method includes displaying via a graphical user interface (GUI) a notification associated with a request from a first user for a communication with a second user in the context of a graphical representation of a communication session including at least the second user, receiving a second user input identifying a selected action associated with the first user via the GUI, and performing the selected action relative to the first user. The second user can be notified of the incoming request via a communication session displayed as a set of graphical elements representing a structure of the communication session via the GUI. The first and/or second user can be a communication session of multiple users.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method of presenting a selected media message to a first user, the method causing a communications device to perform steps comprising:

displaying via a graphical user interface (GUI) a notification associated with a request from a first user for a communication with a second user in the context of a graphical representation of a communication session including at least the second user;

receiving a second user input identifying a selected action associated with the first user via the GUI; and

performing the selected action relative to the first user.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the second user is notified of the incoming request via a communication session displayed as a set of graphical elements representing the communication session via the GUI.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the communication session with the second user comprises a plurality of users.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the second user input is one of a drag and drop gesture, keyboard input, mouse input, touch screen input, voice input, multi-touch input, gesture input, and a selection from a dynamically generated set of options.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 4, wherein the dynamically generated set of options includes fillable fields based on the selected action.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 4, wherein the set of options specifically presents options for the selected action according to a type of communication for the first user.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 4, wherein the selected action is transformed according to a type of communication of the first user.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the selected action further includes instructions for handling the incoming request.

The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein the selected action comprises one or more of placing the first user on hold, recording a message from the first user, forwarding the first user to voicemail, recording a message from the second user for the first user, and presenting a prerecorded message to the first user.

The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the selected action includes one or more of presenting a caller-specific greeting, playing hold music, requesting initiation of a communication with the second user via a different communication modality, playing a second user-recorded message, recording a first user call message, and a second user-entered message.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the first user is involved in a conference call communication session.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 11, wherein the conference call communication session is scheduled on the second user'"'"'s calendar.

The computer-implemented method of claim 11, wherein a communications device of the second user displays a set of connected graphical elements representing a current structure of the conference call communication session, wherein the set of graphical elements corresponds to participants in the conference call communication session.

14. A system for presenting a selected media message to a first user, the system comprising:

a processor;

a first module controlling the processor to display via a graphical user interface (GUI) a notification associated with a request from a first user for a communication with a second user in the context of a graphical representation of a communication session including at least the second user;

a second module controlling the processor to receive a second user input identifying a selected action associated with the first user via the GUI; and

a third module controlling the processor to perform the selected action relative to the first user.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the second user is notified of the incoming request via a communication session displayed as a set of graphical elements representing a structure of the communication session via the GUI.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the second user is involved in a communication session having a plurality of users.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the GUI input is one of a drag and drop gesture, keyboard input, mouse input, touch screen input, voice input, multi-touch input, gesture input, and a selection from a dynamically generated menu.

18. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to present a selected media message to a first user, the instructions comprising:

displaying via a graphical user interface (GUI) a notification associated with a request from a first user for a communication with a second user in the context of a graphical representation of a communication session including at least the second user;

receiving a second user input identifying a selected action associated with the first user via the GUI; and

performing the selected action relative to the first user.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein the selected media message further includes instructions for handling the incoming request.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 19, wherein the instructions include one or more of placing the first user on hold, recording a message from the first user, and forwarding the first user to voicemail.
