Abstract

Telematic method and apparatus adaptively uses fuel cell power source in vehicle with integrated power system, electrical system, telematic system, and body/powertrain system. Telematic communications systems including internet, digital video broadcast entertainment, digital audio broadcast, digital multimedia broadcast, global positioning system navigation, safety services, intelligent transportation systems, and/or universal mobile telecommunications system. Network-accessible software enables integrated modular function for automated control and provision of fuel cell resources for telematic appliance and/or other vehicle electro-mechanical devices.

Claims

1. Vehicle having adaptive power and telematics comprising:

a vehicle with a traction motor;

a battery providing a source of energy for the traction motor; and

a telematic system;

wherein an electronic controller employs adaptive control of electrical power from the battery to the vehicle or the telematic system using one or more sensor in the vehicle to predict or measure electrical operation or need therein, wherein said adaptive control comprises increasing the battery output to the traction motor during periods of acceleration.

2. Vehicle having adaptive power and telematics comprising:

a vehicle with an electric motor;

a primary power source for driving the electric motor;

an auxiliary power source for supplying electrical energy to on-board components; and

a telematic system;

wherein an electronic controller employs adaptive control of electrical power from the primary power source and the auxiliary power source to the telematic system using one or more sensor in the vehicle to predict or measure fault or error condition, wherein said adaptive control comprises empowering the telematic system from the primary power source and the auxiliary power source, wherein the telematic system communicates with a remote server or service to detect or indicate automatically an emergency condition.

3. The vehicle of claim 2 wherein the telematic system comprises a global positioning system (GPS) that reports the location of the vehicle to the remote server or service.

4. The vehicle of claim 2 wherein the telematic system comprises a phone system that reports the location of the vehicle to the remote server or service.

5. Vehicle having adaptive power and electrical load comprising:

a vehicle with a traction motor;

a battery providing a source of energy for the traction motor; and

an electrical load;

wherein an electronic controller employs adaptive control of electrical power from the battery to the vehicle or the electrical load using one or more sensor in the vehicle to predict or measure electrical operation or need therein, wherein said adaptive control comprises increasing the battery output to the traction motor during periods of acceleration.
