Abstract

A wireless power transmitting system that transmits power from a power transmitting station to a power receiving station wirelessly includes the power receiving station. The power receiving station includes a unit receiving power from the power transmitting station, a unit obtaining a level of power received through the antenna, a unit obtaining a level of power consumed by the device operating while being supplied with received power and a unit transmitting the received power level and the power consuming level to the power transmitting station wirelessly. The power transmitting station includes a unit receiving the received power level and the power consuming level from the power receiving station wirelessly, a unit controlling the level of power transmitted through the transmitting antenna based on the difference between the received power level and the received power consuming level, and a unit transmitting power to the power receiving station wirelessly.

Claims

1. A wireless power transmitting system that transmits power from a transmitting antenna of a power transmitting station to a receiving antenna of a power receiving station in a wireless manner, the wireless power transmitting system comprising:

the power receiving station which is operatively associated with a device operating while being supplied with power, the power receiving station including

a power receiver receiving power from the power transmitting station in the wireless manner,

a received power measuring unit obtaining a received power level indicating the level of power received through the receiving antenna,

a power consumption measuring unit obtaining a power consuming level indicating the level of power consumed by the device operating while being supplied with power received through the receiving antenna, and

a receiving-side communicating unit transmitting the received power level and the power consuming level to the power transmitting station by wireless; and

the power transmitting station including

a transmitting-side communicating unit receiving the received power level and the power consuming level from the power receiving station by wireless,

a transmitting power controller controlling the level of power transmitted through the transmitting antenna based on the difference between the received power level and the received power consuming level, and

a power transmitter transmitting power to the power receiving station in the wireless manner under the control of the transmitting power controller.

2. The wireless power transmitting system according to claim 1, further comprising:

a difference obtaining unit obtaining the difference by subtracting the received power level obtained by the received power measuring unit from the power consuming level obtained by the power consumption measuring unit, wherein

when the difference obtained by the difference obtaining unit exceeds a given threshold value, the transmitting power controller increases the level of power transmitted through the transmitting antenna.

3. The wireless power transmitting system according to claim 2, further comprising:

a margin memory unit storing a margin power level indicating the level of margin power representing a variation in power consumption for each given operating mode of the device;

an operating mode obtaining unit obtaining operating modes of the device; and

a margin getting unit getting a margin power level corresponding to the operating mode obtained by the operating mode obtaining unit from the margin memory unit, wherein

the difference obtaining unit obtains the difference by subtracting the received power level obtained by the received power measuring unit from the sum of the margin power level got by the margin getting unit and the power consuming level obtained by the power consumption measuring unit.

4. A power receiving station that receives power transmitted from a transmitting antenna of a power transmitting station in a wireless manner through a receiving antenna and is operatively associated with a device operating while being supplied with power, the power receiving station comprising:

a power receiver receiving power from the power transmitting station in the wireless manner;

a received power measuring unit obtaining a received power level indicating the level of power received through the receiving antenna;

a power consumption measuring unit obtaining a power consuming level indicating the level of power consumed by the device operating while being supplied with power received through the receiving antenna; and

a receiving-side communicating unit transmitting the received power level and the power consuming level to the power transmitting station by wireless, wherein

the power receiver receives power based on the received power level and the power consuming level from the power transmitting station in the wireless manner.

5. The power receiving station according to claim 4, further comprising:

a control signal generator generating, based on the difference between the received power level obtained by the received power measuring unit and the power consuming level obtained by the power consumption measuring unit, a control signal to control the level of power transmitted through the transmitting antenna, wherein

the receiving-side communicating unit transmits the control signal generated by the control signal generator to the power transmitting station with a frequency band different from a frequency band for wireless power transmission.

A power transmitting station connectable to a power supply and capable of receiving power from the power supply and transmitting power supplied from the power supply through a transmitting antenna to a receiving antenna of a power receiving station in a wireless manner, the power transmitting station comprising:

a transmitting-side communicating unit receiving a received power level indicating the level of power received through the receiving antenna and a power consuming level indicating the level of power consumed by a device from the power receiving station, the device operating while being supplied with received power;

a transmitting power controller controlling the level of power transmitted through the transmitting antenna based on the difference between the received power level and the received power consuming level; and

a power transmitter transmitting power supplied from the power supply to the power receiving station in the wireless manner under the control of the transmitting power controller.

7. The power transmitting station according to claim 6, further comprising:

a difference obtaining unit obtaining the difference by subtracting the received power level from the received power consuming level, wherein when the difference obtained by the difference obtaining unit exceeds a given threshold value, the transmitting power controller increases the level of power transmitted through the transmitting antenna.

8. The power transmitting station according to claim 7, further comprising:

a margin storing unit storing a margin power level indicating the level of margin power representing a variation in power consumption for each given operating mode of the device;

an operating mode obtaining unit obtaining an operating mode of the device; and

a margin getting unit getting a margin power level corresponding to the operating mode obtained by the operating mode obtaining unit from the margin storing unit, wherein

the difference obtaining unit obtains the difference by subtracting the received power level from the sum of the margin power level got by the margin getting unit and the power consuming level.

A recording medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as a power receiving station which receives power transmitted from a transmitting antenna of a power transmitting station in a wireless manner through a receiving antenna and is operatively associated with a device operating while being supplied with power, the program causing the computer to execute:

receiving power from the power transmitting station in the wireless manner;

obtaining a received power level indicating the level of power received through the receiving antenna;

obtaining a power consuming level indicating the level of power consumed by the device operating while being supplied with power received through the receiving antenna; and

transmitting the received power level and the power consuming level to the power transmitting station in the wireless manner, wherein

in the receiving, power based on the received power level and the power consuming level is received from the power transmitting station in the wireless manner.

A recording medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as a power transmitting station which is connected to a power supply and is capable of receiving power from the power supply and transmits power supplied from the power supply through a transmitting antenna to a receiving antenna of a power receiving station in a wireless manner, the program causing the computer to execute:

receiving a received power level indicating the level of power received through the receiving antenna and a power consuming level indicating the level of power consumed by a device from the power receiving station, the device operating while being supplied with received power;

controlling the level of power transmitted through the transmitting antenna based on the difference between the received power level and the received power consuming level; and

transmitting power supplied from the power supply to the power receiving station in the wireless manner based on the control.
