Abstract

A lampshade system which utilizes a simplified lampshade design that does not require integrally manufactured frame components. The lampshade can be manufactured in a flattened position to optimize shipping, storage and display space and which may be easily assembled into a three-dimensional lampshade position by an end user at the point of use.

Claims

1. A lampshade system comprising:

at least one sheet lampshade component having a first flattened position and a second position, the second position forming a hollow, three-dimensional lamp shade structure; and

at least one selectively attachable lampshade spider collar component which supports said sheet lampshade component.

2. The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein said sheet lamp shade component is die cut.

3. The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein said sheet lampshade component further includes at least one aperture to secure said selectively attachable lampshade spider collar component.

The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein said sheet lampshade component further includes at least one aperture to secure said selectively attachable lampshade spider collar component selected from a group consisting of a die cut slit, a slit, a hole, a slot and a flap which may be located anywhere on said sheet lampshade component.

5. The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein said sheet lampshade component further includes a plurality of material layers.

6. The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein said lampshade spider collar component includes at least two support arms radiating from at least one central ring structure.

7. The lampshade system of claim 6, wherein said support arms are telescoping.

8. The lampshade system of claim 6, wherein said support arms are of non-uniform length.

9. The lampshade system of claim 6, wherein said support arms are selectively attachable to the at least one central ring structure.

10. The lampshade system of claim 6, wherein said support arms may be pivotally moved about the at least one central ring structure.

11. The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein said sheet lampshade component receives said support arms of said lampshade spider collar component so that said lampshade spider collar component provides support sufficient to support said sheet lampshade component on a lamp base.

12. The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein said sheet lampshade component receives said support arms of said lampshade spider collar component so that said lampshade spider collar component supports sheet lampshade component when coupled to a hanging lamp structure.

13. The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein said sheet lampshade component includes a printed image.

14. The lampshade system of claim 13, wherein said printed image is selected by an end user before the image is printed on the sheet lampshade component.

15. The lampshade system of claim 1, wherein tabs located on opposite ends of said sheet lampshade interlock to hold said sheet lampshade in said second folded position.

16. A lampshade system comprising:

at least one flexible sheet lampshade component manufactured in a first flattened position and a second position, the second position forming a hollow, three-dimensional lamp shade structure without integrally manufactured frame components; and

at least one support structure removably coupled to said sheet lampshade component when said sheet lampshade is formed in the second position.

17. The lampshade system of claim 16, wherein an end user forms said second position.

18. A lampshade system of claim 16, wherein the at least one support structure further comprises:

at least one central ring structure; and

at least one radiating arm coupled to said at least one ring structure.

19. The lampshade system of claim 18, wherein said support arms are telescoping.

20. A method of forming a lampshade system comprising:

forming at least one sheet lampshade component without integrally manufactured frame components in a first flattened position in a factory;

shipping the at least one sheet lampshade component to a retail destination in the first flattened position;

forming the at least one sheet lampshade component in a second position after the at least one sheet lampshade component reaches the retail destination, the second position forming a hollow, three-dimensional lamp shade structure without integrally manufactured frame components.
