Abstract

A golf GPS device is disclosed herein. The device includes a GPS unit, a memory for storing a plurality of aerial images of a golf course, a display for displaying the plurality of aerial images, a user input for inputting a plurality of location points on an aerial image of the plurality of aerial images displayed on the display, and a processor comprising means for collision avoidance of features on the display of the device.

Claims

1. A golf GPS device comprising:

a GPS unit;

a memory for storing a plurality of aerial images of a golf course;

a display for displaying the plurality of aerial images;

a user input for inputting a plurality of location points on an aerial image of the plurality of aerial images displayed on the display; and

a processor configured to avoid collision of features on the display.

2. The golf GPS device according to claim 1 wherein each of the plurality of aerial images is a satellite photograph.

3. The golf GPS device according to claim 1 wherein each of the plurality of aerial images is an aerial photograph.

4. A method for collision avoidance on the display, the method comprising:

displaying an aerial image of a portion of the golf course on a viewport of a device, the portion of the golf course including a plurality of elements and the plurality of elements including at least one element of texts;

determining the location of the text on the display in reference to all of the elements on the display;

determining if there is a collision of elements on the display; and

adjusting the texts element to avoid a collision.

5. The method according to claim 4 wherein the adjustment is to not display the text.

6. The method according to claim 4 wherein the adjustment is to shift the text to the right.

7. The method according to claim 4 wherein the adjustment is to shift the text to the left.

8. The method according to claim 4 wherein the adjustment is to shift the text to the top.

9. The method according to claim 4 wherein the adjustment is to shift the text to the bottom.

10. The method according to claim 4 wherein the aerial image of a portion of the golf course is a satellite photograph.

11. The method according to claim 4 wherein the aerial image of a portion of the golf course is an aerial photograph.

12. A device for determine a distance between a first location point on a golf course and a second location point on a golf course, the device comprising:

a display; and

means for avoiding collision of elements on a display.

13. A golf GPS device comprising:

a GPS unit;

a memory for storing a plurality of aerial images of a golf course;

a display for displaying the plurality of aerial images;

a user input for inputting a plurality of location points on an aerial image of the plurality of aerial images displayed on the display; and

a processor comprising means for avoiding collision of elements on a display.
