Abstract

A method for communicating location-based advertising, weather, payment and alert information to a mobile unit.

Claims

1. A method of communicating an advertisement, comprising:

receiving information identifying a plurality of mobile units, the information inputted by users of the plurality of mobile units;

storing the information by a website;

providing an administrator access to the website;

determining that at least one of the plurality of mobile units is in the vicinity of a business location; and

transmitting a communication to the at least one of the plurality of mobile units, the communication comprising an advertisement.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the information is related to one of the users.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the at least one of the plurality of mobile units comprises a laptop.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the at least one of the plurality of mobile units comprises a cellular phone.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the receiving information identifying the plurality of mobile units comprises receiving the information through a website.

6. A method of communicating a weather update, comprising:

receiving information identifying a plurality of mobile units, the information inputted by users of the plurality of mobile units;

storing the information by a website;

providing an administrator access to the website;

determining that at least one of the plurality of mobile units is in the vicinity of a weather change; and

transmitting a communication to the at least one of the plurality of mobile units, the communication comprising a weather update.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein the information is related to the user.

8. The method of claim 6 wherein the at least one of the plurality of mobile units comprises a laptop.

9. The method of claim 6 wherein the at least one of the plurality of mobile units comprises a cellular phone.

10. The method of claim 6 wherein the receiving information identifying the plurality of mobile units comprises receiving the information through a website.

11. A method of communicating a payment, comprising:

receiving information identifying a mobile unit, the information inputted by a user of the mobile unit;

storing the information by a network of computers;

sending a code to the mobile unit;

receiving an approval from the user of the mobile unit; and

storing a charged amount in a log.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the sending a code comprises a text file.

13. The method of claim 11 wherein the receiving an approval comprises receiving the code.

14. The method of claim 13 where the receiving the code comprises receiving the code through a website.

15. The method of claim 11 wherein the mobile unit comprises a cellular phone.

16. The method of claim 11 wherein the receiving information identifying a mobile unit comprises receiving information through a website.

17. A method of communicating an alert, comprising:

receiving information from a user of a mobile unit, the information comprising identification information of the user and multiple addresses, each address associated with a remote unit, to receive a communication;

storing the information by a website;

receiving an input from the user of the mobile unit to send the communication, by the website, to the multiple addresses, the communication comprising a position of the mobile unit and the identification information of the user;

establishing a communication with emergency services personnel.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the remote unit comprises a cellular phone.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the remote unit comprises a land line.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the remote unit comprises a laptop computer.

21. The method of claim 17, wherein the receiving information from the user comprises receiving the information through a website.
