Abstract

Systems and methods for continuous measurement of an analyte in a host are provided. The system generally includes a continuous analyte sensor configured to continuously measure a concentration of analyte in a host and a sensor electronics module physically connected to the continuous analyte sensor during sensor use, wherein the sensor electronics module is further configured to directly wirelessly communicate displayable sensor information to a plurality of different types of display devices.

Claims

1. A key fob device sized to fit on a key chain and configured to operably connect to a continuous analyte sensor, wherein the key fob device comprises a telemetry module, a data storage device and a user interface, wherein the telemetry module is configured to wirelessly receive sensor data from a continuous analyte sensor and to transmit sensor data to a secondary display device, wherein the data storage device is configured to store sensor data, and wherein the key fob device is configured to display sensor data on the user interface.

2. The key fob device of claim 1, further comprising an authentication mechanism.

3. The key fob device of claim 1, wherein the sensor data transmitted to the secondary display device comprises displayable sensor information.

4. The key fob device of claim 1, wherein the sensor data received from the continuous analyte sensor comprises displayable sensor information.

5. The key fob device of claim 1, wherein the processor module is configured to process sensor data from the continuous analyte sensor to provide displayable sensor information.

6. The key fob device of claim 1, wherein the key fob device is configured to receive user input.

7. The key fob device of claim 6, wherein the user interface comprises one or more buttons configured to accept the user input.

8. The key fob device of claim 6, wherein the user input comprises calibration information.

9. The key fob device of claim 6, wherein the key fob device is configured to wirelessly transmit the user input to the continuous analyte sensor.

10. The key fob device of claim 1, wherein the key fob device is configured to display, on the user interface, a number representative of the analyte concentration based on the sensor data.

11. The key fob device of claim 10, wherein the key fob device is configured to display, on the user interface, an arrow representative of a rate of change of the analyte concentration based on the sensor data.

12. The key fob device of claim 1, further comprising a USB connector and a telemetry adapter configured to enable direct wireless access between the sensor electronics module and a personal computer.

13. The key fob device of claim 1, wherein the telemetry module is configured to transmit sensor data wirelessly.

14. The key fob device of claim 13, wherein the telemetry module is configured to wirelessly transmit sensor data using a standardized wireless protocol.

15. The key fob device of claim 14, wherein the standardized wireless protocol is a Bluetooth protocol.

16. The key fob device of claim 14, wherein the key fob device is configured to wirelessly transmit sensor data to a telemetry module of a secondary display device having a user interface configured to display more sensor data than the user interface of the key fob device.

17. The key fob device of claim 16, wherein the telemetry module of the secondary display device is configured to wirelessly receive sensor data using a standardized wireless protocol.

18. The key fob device of claim 17, wherein the standardized wireless protocol is a Bluetooth protocol.

19. The key fob device of claim 16, wherein the secondary display device comprises a phone.

20. The key fob device of claim 1, wherein the sensor data comprises sensor data representative of a glucose concentration in a host.

21. The key fob device of claim 1, wherein the key fob device is configured to audibly, visibly or tactilely alert a user in response to one or more alert conditions being satisfied by the sensor data.

22. The key fob device of claim 21, wherein the one or more alert conditions are user settable.

23. The key fob device of claim 22, wherein the one or more alert conditions are user settable by the user into the user interface of the key fob device.
