1. A method for presenting an offer at a mobile phone comprising:
- identifying a location of the mobile phone;
determining that a user meets a targeting criterion, wherein the user is associated with the mobile phone;
determining a discount, wherein the discount is applicable to a purchase involving an item, wherein the user is eligible for the discount, wherein a second user is ineligible for the discount due to failure to meet the targeting criterion, and wherein determining the discount includes using the targeting criterion;
presenting the discount to the user via the mobile phone; and
enabling redemption of the discount, wherein the user can benefit from the redemption and wherein the second user cannot benefit from the redemption.

The presentment and redemption system offers discounts directly to consumers through their mobile phones. The discounts are based upon the user of the mobile phone meeting a targeting criterion and the discounts are determined using the targeting criterion. Mobile phone users that do not meet the targeting criterion are not eligible for the discount.
