Abstract

Methods, systems, and products monitor athletic performance. Location information is acquired that indicates a device is in movement. A level of difficulty associated with the location information is retrieved and associated to a distance traversed during the movement. The distance traversed and the level of difficulty are stored in a database.

Claims

1. A method of monitoring athletic performance, comprising:

acquiring location information that indicates a device is in movement;

retrieving a level of difficulty associated with the location information;

associating the level of difficulty to a distance traversed during the movement; and

storing the distance traversed and the level of difficulty in a database.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising retrieving topographical information associated with the location information.

3. The method according to claim 2, further comprising querying a database of difficulty that stores a table that maps topographies to levels of difficulty.

4. The method according to claim 3, further comprising retrieving the level of difficulty that is associated to the topographical information.

5. The method according to claim 1, further comprising determining a distance traversed during the movement.

6. The method according to claim 1, further comprising determining a velocity of the movement.

7. The method according to claim 6, further comprising ignoring the movement when the velocity exceeds a maximum velocity.

8. A system for monitoring athletic performance, comprising:

a processor executing code stored in memory that causes the processor to;

acquire location information that indicates a device is in movement;

retrieve a level of difficulty associated with the location information;

associate the level of difficulty to a distance traversed during the movement; and

store the distance traversed and the level of difficulty in a database.

10. The system according to claim 9, wherein the code further causes the processor to retrieve topographical information associated with the location information.

11. The system according to claim 10, wherein the code further causes the processor to query a database of difficulty that stores a table that maps topographies to levels of difficulty.

12. The system according to claim 11, wherein the code further causes the processor to retrieve the level of difficulty that is associated to the topographical information.

13. The system according to claim 9, wherein the code further causes the processor to determine a distance traversed during the movement.

14. The system according to claim 9, wherein the code further causes the processor to determine a velocity of the movement.

15. The system according to claim 9, wherein the code further causes the processor to ignore the movement when the velocity exceeds a maximum velocity.

16. A computer readable medium storing processor executable instructions for performing a method, the method comprising:

acquiring location information that indicates a device is in movement;

retrieving a level of difficulty associated with the location information;

associating the level of difficulty to a distance traversed during the movement; and

storing the distance traversed and the level of difficulty in a database.

17. The computer readable medium according to claim 16, further comprising instructions for retrieving topographical information associated with the location information.

18. The computer readable medium according to claim 17, further comprising instructions for querying a database of difficulty that stores a table that maps topographies to levels of difficulty.

19. The computer readable medium according to claim 18, further comprising instructions for retrieving the level of difficulty that is associated to the topographical information.

20. The computer readable medium according to claim 16, further comprising instructions for determining a distance traversed during the movement.
