Abstract

A method for performing initial registration is provided. The method includes receiving a server timeout message, the server timeout message including at least a field set to a value equal to a value received during a first registration. The method further includes initiating restoration procedures by performing an initial registration.

Claims

1. A method for handling service restoration, the method comprising:

receiving a SIP request from a user equipment (UE); and

sending a first SIP response to the UE, the first SIP response being a SIP server timeout message, the SIP server timeout message including at least a first field set to a value equal to a value provided in a second field, the second field included in a second SIP response to a SIP REGISTER request of the UE.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the SIP server timeout message further includes an indication, the indication indicating support for restoration procedures.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the value sent in the SIP server timeout message is a SIP URI of an S-CSCF.

4. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first field comprises a P-Asserted-Identify header field.

5. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second field is a Service-Route header field.

6. A user agent (UA) to handle service restoration, the UA comprising:

one or more processors configured to;

receive a SIP request from a user equipment (UE); and

send a first SIP response to the UE, the first SIP response being a SIP server timeout message, the SIP server timeout message including a first field set to a value equal to a value provided in a second field during a first registration, the second field included in a second SIP response to a SIP REGISTER request.

7. The UA as claimed in claim 6, wherein the SIP server timeout message further includes an indication, the indication indicating support for restoration procedures.

8. The UA as claimed in claim 6, wherein the value sent by the UA during the registration is a SIP URI of an S-CSCF.

9. The UA as claimed in claim 6, wherein the first field comprises a P-Asserted-Identity header field.

10. The UA as claimed in claim 6, wherein the second field is a Service-Route header field.
