Abstract

A method and apparatus uses various location information to store and search contents in a portable terminal. The method of storing and searching contents includes obtaining location-based information including at least one of region information and a Point Of Interest (POI) corresponding to current location information when storing the contents. The contents and the location-based information are stored by mapping the contents and the location-based information. At least one of the POI and the region information determined by a user is set when searching the contents. And the contents corresponding to the information determined by the user are searched.

Claims

1. A method of storing and searching contents in a portable terminal, the method comprising:

obtaining location-based information comprising at least one of region information and a Point Of Interest (POI) corresponding to current location information when storing the contents;

storing the contents and the location-based information by mapping the contents and the location-based information;

setting at least one of the POI and the region information determined by a user when searching the contents; and

searching the contents corresponding to the information determined by the user.

The method of claim 1, wherein the region information and the POI corresponding to the current location information are obtained from a pre-stored database that represents at least one of a mapping relation between location information and the POI and a mapping relation between location information and the region information.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the database that represents the mapping relation between location information and the POI information comprises at least one of an index field, a location information field, a POI category field, a POI name field, and a POI description field.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the database that represents the mapping relation between location information and the region information comprises at least one of an index field, a location information field, and a region name field.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the location-based information comprises index information for at least one of the region information and the POI corresponding to the current location information.

The method of claim 1, wherein storing the contents and the location-based information by mapping the contents and the location-based information comprises storing address information to indicate a location for storing the contents and the location-based information by including the address information in the location-based information.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the location-based information comprises at least one of weather information, regional specialty information, and event information with respect to a region corresponding to the current location information.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the location-based information comprises at least one of a contents creation date, a contents creation time, a contents type, a contents size, and contents storage address information.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying a list comprising the found contents.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying a map comprising the found contents.

11. An apparatus for storing and searching contents in a portable terminal, the apparatus comprising:

a storage unit configured to store the contents and location-based information by mapping the contents and the location-based information; and

a controller configured to obtain location-based information comprising at least one of region information and a Point Of Interest (POI) corresponding to current location information when storing the contents, and search contents corresponding to at least one of the POI and the region information determined by a user when searching the contents.

12. The apparatus of claim 11,

wherein the storage unit stores a database that represents at least one of a mapping relation between location information and the POI and a mapping relation between location information and the region information, and

wherein the controller obtains at least one of the region information and the POI corresponding to the current location information.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the database that represents the mapping relation between location information and the POI information comprises at least one of an index field, a location information field, a POI category field, a POI name field, and a POI description field.

14. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the database that represents the mapping relation between location information and the region information comprises at least one of an index field, a location information field, and a region name field.

15. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the location-based information comprises index information for at least one of the region information and the POI corresponding to the current location information.

16. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the storage unit stores address information that indicates a location for storing the contents and the location-based information by including the address information in the location-based information.

17. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the location-based information comprises at least one of weather information, regional specialty information, and event information with respect to a region corresponding to the current location information.

18. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the location-based information comprises at least one of a contents creation date, a contents creation time, a contents type, a contents size, and contents storage address information.

19. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising a display unit configured to display a list comprising the found contents.

20. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising a display unit configured to display a map comprising the found contents.
