Abstract

The invention relates to a method and device for recording and presentation of physiological parameters, which can include both blood pressure and heart pulse. Information about the heart pulse is derived from a recorded blood pressure signal, whereby the need for e.g. an external ECG measurement device is eliminated. It is likewise a part of the invention that a blood pressure measurement is used for the derivation of data such as Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and/or baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) values.

27. A single measurement device, comprising:

at least one integrated pressure transducer, the measurement device being configured to measure and record at least three physiological examination sequences selected from the group consisting of a resting heart rate, a beat-to-beat heart rate variation, a heart rate response to standing, a heart rate response to Valsalva maneuver, a systolic blood pressure response to standing and a diastolic blood pressure response to isometric exercise, the measurement device further being configured to measure and record an exhalation air pressure and to convey real-time information on an exhalation air pressure measurement to a user such that the user is guided to a correct exhalation air pressure in the at least three physiological examination sequences.

28. The single measurement device according to claim 27, further comprising a central processing unit adapted to control different time-synchronized measurements and to execute algorithms to guide a patient correctly through an examination.

29. The single measurement device according to claim 27, wherein the at least one integrated pressure transducer is configured to measure and record at least one selected from the group consisting of a pressure, a blood pressure and a hand grip squeeze pressure.

30. The single measurement device according to claim 27, further comprising a baroreflex sensitivity recording unit.

31. The single measurement device according to claim 27, further comprising a plurality of electrocardiography (ECG) electrodes forming a part of an exterior surface of the measurement device.

32. The single measurement device according to claim 27, wherein the measurement device is adapted to simultaneously measure pressure and electrocardiography (ECG) signals.

33. The single measurement device according to claim 28, wherein the central processing unit includes a digital signal processor.

34. The single measurement device according to claim 28, wherein the central processing unit is adapted to process implemented calculation algorithms and show results of the processed algorithms on a display device.

35. The single measurement device according to claim 34, wherein the central processing unit is adapted to process an additional input signal.

36. The single measurement device according to claim 35, wherein the additional input signal provides exhale pressure information in response to a Valsalva maneuver.

37. The single measurement device according to claim 36, wherein the display device is adapted to graphically display the additional input signal such that the patient is correctly guided through the examination.

38. The single measurement device according to claim 28, further comprising a plurality of control pushbuttons adapted to provide control signals to the central processing unit.

39. The single measurement device according to claim 37, wherein the display device is adapted to graphically display a measured exhale pressure from the patient, a corresponding lapsed time period and a remaining time period, simultaneously.

40. The single measurement device according to claim 27, further comprising a wireless data communication unit adapted to transmit data to an external unit.

41. The single measurement device according to claim 27, wherein the measurement device has an elongated shape with an electrocardiography (ECG) electrode positioned on each side of a display device.
