Abstract

A method of controlling a portable electronic device includes receiving a selection of a character of a string at the portable electronic device, rendering the character at a first font size on a display of the portable electronic device, and re-rendering the character at a second font size when a subsequent selection of a subsequent character of a new string is received.

Claims

1. A method of controlling a portable electronic device, the method comprising:

receiving a selection of a character of a string at the portable electronic device;

rendering the character at a first font size on a display of the portable electronic device; and

re-rendering the character at a second font size when a subsequent selection of a subsequent character of a new string is received.

2. The method according to claim 1, comprising re-rendering the character at the second font size when a time threshold is reached.

3. The method according to claim 2, wherein the time threshold is selectable for setting in a user interface.

4. The method according to claim 1 wherein the first font size is selectable for setting in a user interface.

5. The method according to claim 1 wherein the second font size is selectable for setting in a user interface.

6. The method according to claim 1 wherein the first font is selectable for setting in a user interface.

7. The method according to claim 1 wherein the second font is selectable for setting in a user interface.

8. The method according to claim 1 wherein the colour of the characters rendered at the first font size is selectable for setting in a user interface.

9. The method according to claim 1 wherein the colour of the characters rendered at the second font size is selectable for setting in a user interface.

10. The method according to claim 1, wherein characters of a previous string are rendered at the first font size when a space is entered at the portable electronic device.

11. The method according to claim 1, wherein the character comprises alphabetical, numerical and symbolic characters.

12. The method according to claim 1 wherein the character comprises a punctuation character.

13. A computer-readable medium having computer-readable code embodied therein, the computer-readable code executable by a processor of a portable electronic device to render a character of a string at a first font size on a display of the portable electronic device when a selection of the character is received, and re-rendering the character at a second font size when a subsequent selection of a subsequent character of a new string is received.

14. An electronic device comprising:

a memory;

a display configured to display information; and

an input device to for receiving a selection of a character of a string at the portable electronic device; and

a processor connected to the memory, the display and the input device, to execute a program stored in the memory to cause the electronic device to render the character at a first font size on the display, and re-render the character at a second font size when a subsequent selection of a subsequent character of a new string is received at the input device.

15. The electronic device according to claim 14, wherein the character is rendered at the second font size when a time threshold is reached.

16. The electronic device according to claim 15, wherein the time threshold is selectable for setting in a user interface.

17. The electronic device according to claim 14 wherein the first font size is selectable for setting in a user interface.

18. The electronic device according to claim 14, wherein the second font size is selectable for setting in a user interface.

19. The electronic device according to claim 14, wherein characters of a previous string are rendered at the first font size when a space is entered at the input device.
