1. A fluid damper comprising:
- a first chamber, the chamber dividable into a compression portion having a first fluid therein and a gas-filled compressible portion;
a second chamber having a variable rheology fluid therein, the second chamber dividing the compression and compressible portions;
wherein the second chamber is at least partially displaceable by and isolated from the first fluid and wherein movement of the second chamber causes a volume change in the compressible portion.

Abstract
A method and apparatus for a fluid damper comprising a first fluid-filled chamber, a second chamber filled with a fluid having variable flow characteristics and at least partially displaceable by the first fluid, and a gas chamber, the gas chamber compressible due to the displacement of the second chamber. In one embodiment, the fluid in the second chamber is a variable rheology fluid.

8. A remotely controllable shock absorber system for a vehicle comprising:
-
at least two dampers associated with at least two wheels of the vehicle, each damper comprising; a cylinder with a first fluid filled chamber, the chamber having a piston for movement therein, the piston metering fluid in at least one direction; a second chamber disposed between the first chamber and a gas chamber, the chamber fluid-filled with variable rheology fluid; a remotely actuatable electromagnet proximate the second chamber for affecting the fluid due to a magnetic field. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13)

14. A fluid damper comprising:
-
a damping fluid cylinder having a first volume corresponding to a first damper position and a second volume corresponding to a second damper position; a compressible chamber including a compressible volume therein; a metering fluid chamber containing a fluid having variable flow characteristics; a movable partition separating the compressible chamber from the metering fluid chamber; a second movable partition separating an interior portion of the cylinder from the metering fluid chamber; an energy source in functional proximity to the metering fluid chamber wherein the rheology fluid exhibits a first flow characteristic corresponding to a first energy source output and a second flow characteristic corresponding to a second energy source output. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22)
