Abstract

Storing image data and related information for sharing via a URL includes receiving image data uploaded from a client computer via a user interface and receiving, separate from the receiving of the image data, related information uploaded via the user interface. The uploaded image data and related information are stored. A uniform resource locator (URL) configured for retrieving a display that includes the stored image data and the related information is generated. The URL is provided in a message.

Claims

1. A method of storing image data and related information for sharing via a URL, the method comprising:

receiving image data uploaded from a client computer via a user interface;

receiving, separate from the receiving of the image data, related information uploaded via the user interface;

storing the uploaded image data and related information;

generating a uniform resource locator (URL) configured for retrieving a display that includes the stored image data and the related information;

providing the URL in a message.

2. The method of claim 1, comprising generating the display in response to a request that includes at least a portion of the URL.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the image data is representative of a place, object, event, or experience, and the related information includes a description of the representation of the place, object, event, or experience.

4. The method of claim 1 comprising forwarding the message to a recipient.

5. The method of claim 1 comprising modifying at least one of the image data and the related information.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein storing the uploaded image data and related information includes storing the uploaded image data and related information in separate databases.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the uploaded image data and related information are stored associated with an identifier that is included in the URL.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the uploaded image data and related information are stored associated with an identifier that is included in the URL.

9. A system for storing image data and related information for sharing via a URL, the system comprising:

at least two servers, at least one of which is configured to perform less than all of the following actions alone, such that together the at least two servers are configured to for;

receiving image data uploaded from a client computer via a user interface;

receiving, separate from the receiving of the image data, related information uploaded via the user interface;

storing the uploaded image data and related information;

generating a uniform resource locator (URL) configured for retrieving a display that includes the stored image data and the related information;

providing the URL in a message.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein at least one of the at least two servers is configured for generating the display in response to a request that includes at least a portion of the URL.

11. The system of claim 9 wherein the image data is representative of a place, object, event, or experience, and the related information includes a description of the representation of the place, object, event, or experience.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein at least one of the at least two servers is configured for forwarding the message to a recipient.

13. The system of claim 9, wherein at least one of the at least two servers is configured for modifying at least one of the image data and the related information.

14. The system of claim 9, wherein at least one of the at least two servers is configured for storing the uploaded image data and related information in separate databases.

15. The system of claim 9, wherein at least one of the at least two servers is configured for storing the uploaded image data and related information associated with an identifier that is included in the URL.

16. The system of claim 9, wherein at least one of the at least two servers is configured for storing the uploaded image data and related information associated with an identifier that is included in the URL.

17. A computer readable medium containing a computer program for storing image data and related information for sharing via a URL, the computer program comprising executable instructions for:

receiving image data uploaded from a client computer via a user interface;

receiving, separate from the receiving of the image data, related information uploaded via the user interface;

storing the uploaded image data and related information;

generating a uniform resource locator (URL) configured for retrieving a display that includes the stored image data and the related information;

providing the URL in a message.
