Abstract

Harvesting assets for packaged application practices, in one aspect, may include obtaining one or more work products associated with deployment of packaged software applications, extracting content and style, enhancing content and style with models of work products, and storing assets in asset repository.

Claims

1. A method for harvesting assets for packaged software application configuration, comprising:

obtaining one or more documents defining deployment procedures associated with deploying a packaged software application;

extracting content and style from the one or more documents;

creating one or more objects corresponding to the extracted content and style; and

storing the one or more objects as assets in an asset repository.

2. The method of claim 1, further including enhancing the content in the document objects.

3. The method of claim 1, further including cleansing the content and style according to one or more rules.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the cleansing includes deleting information associated with specific identification of projects.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more documents include one or more of electronic text document or code, or combination thereof.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the extracting step includes discovering duplicate content.

7. A computer readable storage medium storing a program of instructions executable by a machine to perform a method of harvesting assets for packaged software application configuration, comprising:

obtaining one or more documents defining deployment procedures associated with deploying a packaged software application;

extracting content and style from the one or more documents;

creating one or more objects corresponding to the extracted content and style; and

storing the one or more objects as assets in an asset repository.

8. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, wherein the stored assets include annotations.

9. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, further including cleansing the extracted content and style according to one or more rules.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, wherein the cleansing includes deleting information associated with specific identifiers of a project.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, one or more documents include one or more of electronic text document or code, or combination thereof.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 7, wherein the extracting step includes discovering duplicate content.

13. A system for harvesting assets for packaged software application configuration, comprising:

a processor;

a computer executable module operable to obtain one or more documents defining deployment procedures associated with deploying a packaged software application, the computer executable module module further operable to extract content and style from the one or more documents, and create one or more objects corresponding to the extracted content and style; and

a storage device operable to store the one or more objects as assets in an asset repository.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the stored objects include annotations.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the computer executable module is further operable to cleanse the extracted content and style according to one or more rules.

16. The system of claim 13, wherein the computer executable module cleanses by deleting information associated specific identifications of projects.

17. The system of claim 13, wherein the one or more documents include one or more of electronic text document or code, or combination thereof.

18. The system of claim 13, wherein the computer executable module further discovers duplicate content.
