METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREVENTING TRANSMISSION BLOCKING IN AN HSUPA WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
First Claim
1. A method for use in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
- determining whether transmission of a scheduled medium access control (MAC) flow is prevented by a non-zero grant that is smaller than required; and
transmitting scheduling information (SI) on a condition that transmission of the MAC flow is prevented.

Abstract
A method and apparatus for preventing mitigating transmission blocking are provided. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) detects whether transmission of a medium access control (MAC) flow, such as a MAC dedicated transport channel flow, is prevented by a small non-zero grant. Transmission blocking may be detected when a non-zero grant is smaller than required for transmission of a MAC protocol data unit. If transmission blocking is detected, the WTRU transmits scheduling information. The WTRU may continue to periodically transmit scheduling information on a condition that the blocking continues.
