Abstract

A method for remotely outputting audio in a display apparatus includes outputting Audio/Visual (AV) data, if a command to remotely output audio is input while the AV data is being output, stopping outputting audio of the AV data while outputting video of the AV data, and transmitting at least one of compressed audio data separated from the AV data and information regarding a time when transmission of the compressed audio data starts to an external apparatus.

Claims

1. A method for remotely outputting audio in a display apparatus, the method comprising:

outputting Audio/Visual (AV) data;

if a command to remotely output audio is input while the AV data is being output, stopping outputting audio of the AV data while outputting video of the AV data; and

transmitting at least one of compressed audio data separated from the AV data and information regarding a time when transmission of the compressed audio data starts to an external apparatus.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the external apparatus receives compressed audio data in the step of transmitting, decompresses the received compressed audio data to decode the audio data, and outputs the decoded data.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:

transmitting text data describing content of the audio data to the external apparatus.

4. The method as claimed in claim 2, further comprising:

receiving information regarding a time of completion of decoding of the compressed audio data from the external apparatus; and

delaying outputting video of the AV data considering the information regarding a time when transmission starts and a time when decoding is completed.

5. The method as claimed in claim 3, wherein the text data is data obtained from the AV data.

6. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the AV data includes broadcast content provided by a first channel,

wherein the method further comprises:

transmitting video data of broadcast content provided by a second channel to the external apparatus.

7. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the AV data includes bilingual broadcast content, and

wherein the audio data is compressed first audio data separated from bilingual audio data included in the AV data.

8. The method as claimed in claim 7, further comprising:

transmitting text data describing content of the first audio data to the external apparatus.

9. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the external apparatus is a headset.

10. A method for outputting audio in a mobile apparatus, the method comprising:

receiving compressed audio data from an external apparatus;

decompressing the received compressed audio data by decoding the audio data; and

outputting the decompressed audio data.

11. The method as claimed in claim 10, further comprising:

outputting other content than video data of the audio data through a display while the audio data is being output.

12. The method as claimed in claim 10, wherein the compressed audio data is separated from Audio/Visual (AV) data by the external apparatus.

13. The method as claimed in claim 11, wherein the other content are one of video content, text content, and video content separated from Audio/Visual (AV) content, and wherein the video content and video content separated from the AV content are not video data of the audio data.

14. The method as claimed in claim 10, further including:

receiving information regarding a time when transmission of the compressed audio data starts;

calculating information regarding a time when decoding is completed considering the information regarding the time when transmission of the compressed audio data starts; and

transmitting the calculated information regarding a time when decoding is completed to the external apparatus.

15. The method as claimed in claim 10, further comprising:

receiving text data describing content of the audio data; and

displaying the text data on a display.

16. The method as claimed in claim 15, further comprising:

providing an electronic dictionary to search for a word included in the text data which is displayed on the display.

17. The method as claimed in claim 11, wherein the other content are one of pre-stored content and content received from the external apparatus.

18. The method as claimed in claim 17, wherein the audio data is audio data of broadcast content provided by a first channel, and

wherein the content received from the external apparatus are video data of broadcast content provided by a second channel.

19. The method as claimed in claim 12, wherein the Audio/Visual (AV) data includes bilingual broadcast content,

wherein the audio data is first audio data separated from bilingual audio data included in the AV data.

20. The method as claimed in claim 19, further comprising:

receiving text data describing content of the first audio data; and

displaying the text data on a display.

21. The method as claimed in claim 20, further comprising:

providing an electronic dictionary to search for a word included in the text data which is displayed on the display.

22. The method as claimed in claim 10, wherein the external apparatus is a headset.

23. A display apparatus, comprising:

a communication unit which communicates with an external apparatus;

an output unit which outputs Audio/Visual (AV) data;

a switching unit which, if a command to remotely output audio is input while the AV data is output, stops outputting audio of the AV data while continuing outputting video of the AV data; and

a controller which controls the switching unit to transmit at least one of compressed audio data separated from the AV data and information regarding a time when transmission of the compressed audio data starts to the external apparatus through the communication unit.

24. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein the external apparatus receives the compressed audio data, decompresses the received compressed audio data by decoding the audio data, and outputs the decompressed audio data.

25. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein the controller controls the communication unit to transmit text data describing content of the audio data to the external apparatus.

26. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein the communication unit receives information regarding a time of completion of decoding of the compressed audio data from the external apparatus, and

wherein the controller delays outputting video of the AV data considering the information regarding the time when transmission starts and a time when decoding is completed.

27. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 25, wherein the text data is data obtained from the AV data.

28. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein the AV data includes broadcast content provided by a first channel, and

wherein the controller controls the communication unit to transmit video data of broadcast content provided by a second channel to the external apparatus.

29. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein the AV data includes bilingual broadcast content, and

wherein the audio data is compressed first audio data separated from bilingual audio data included in the AV data.

30. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 29, wherein the controller controls the communication unit to transmit text data describing content of the first audio data to the external apparatus.

31. The display apparatus as claimed in claim 23, wherein the external apparatus is a headset.

32. A mobile apparatus, comprising:

a network communication unit which receives one of compressed audio data and information regarding a time when transmission of the compressed audio data starts;

a controller which decompresses received compressed audio data by decoding the audio data; and

an output unit which outputs the decompressed audio data.

33. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 32, further comprising:

a touch screen which displays other content other than video data of the audio data while the audio data is output.

34. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 32, wherein the compressed audio data is separated from Audio/Visual (AV) data by an external apparatus.

35. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 33, wherein the other content are one of video content, text content, and video content separated from Audio/Visual (AV) content, and

wherein the video content and video content separated from the AV content are not video data of the audio data.

36. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 32, wherein the controller controls the network communication unit to calculate information regarding a time when decoding of the received audio data is completed considering the information regarding the time when transmission starts, and to transmit the calculated information regarding the time when decoding is completed to an external apparatus.

37. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 33, wherein the network communication unit receives text data describing content of the audio data,

wherein the touch screen displays the text data.

38. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 37, wherein the controller executes and provides an electronic dictionary to search for a word included in the text data which is displayed on the touch screen.

39. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 33, wherein the other content are one of pre-stored content and content received from the external apparatus.

40. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 39, wherein the audio data is audio data of broadcast content provided by a first channel,

wherein the content received from the external apparatus are video data of broadcast content provided by a second channel.

41. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 35, wherein the Audio/Visual (AV) data includes bilingual broadcast content,

wherein the audio data is first audio data separated from bilingual audio data included in the AV data.

42. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 41, wherein the network communication unit receives text data describing content of the first audio data,

wherein the touch screen displays the text data.

43. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 42, wherein the controller executes and provides an electronic dictionary to search for a word included in the text data which is displayed on a display.

44. The mobile apparatus as claimed in claim 32, wherein the mobile apparatus is a headset.
