Abstract

Systems, methods, data structures and/or the like are provided for placing copy data, supplemental, and/or additional data on a clipboard, for example. The copy data may comprise a reference to supplemental data, such as HTML data (e.g., a social media data from an HTML social media webpage). The supplemental data may be retrieved using the reference, and placed within the clipboard. In this way, the copy data and the supplemental data may be available within the clipboard.

Claims

1. A method for managing clipboard data, comprising:

receiving copy data comprising a reference;

placing the copy data into a clipboard;

retrieving supplemental data referred to by the reference; and

placing the supplemental data into the clipboard.

2. The method of claim 1, the reference comprising a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) reference associated with an HTML social media website.

3. The method of claim 2, the supplemental data comprising social media data.

4. The method of claim 3, the social media data comprising at least one of:

a profile image;

a profile message;

profile data;

audio data;

video data;

text;

a friend list; and

shared images.

5. The method of claim 2, the copy data comprising contact data of a personal information management (PIM) application, the contact data comprising the URL reference associated with HTML social media website.

6. The method of claim 5, the placing the supplemental data comprising:

augmenting the contact data of the copy data within the clipboard with the social media data.

7. The method of claim 3, the retrieving supplemental data referenced by the reference comprising:

navigating to the HTML social media website using the URL reference; and

retrieving the social media data as the supplemental data.

8. The method of claim 1, the placing the copy data into a clipboard comprising:

placing the copy data into the clipboard in a first format comprising at least one of image format, plain text format, HTML format, and formatted text format.

9. The method of claim 8, comprising:

augmenting the copy data in the first format within the clipboard with the supplemental data in the first format.

10. The method of claim 8, comprising:

augmenting the copy data in the first format within the clipboard with the supplemental data in a second format different than the first format.

11. The method of claim 8, comprising:

placing the copy data into the clipboard in a third format comprising at least one of image format, plain text format, HTML format, and formatted text format, the third format different than the first format.

12. The method of claim 1, comprising:

determining the supplemental data references additional data;

retrieving the additional data; and

placing the additional data into the clipboard.

13. The method of claim 1, comprising:

performing a paste operation of at least one of the copy data and the supplemental data within the clipboard into a requesting entity.

14. A system for managing clipboard data, comprising:

an augmentation module configured to;

receive copy data from a source application, the copy data comprising a reference;

place the copy data into a clipboard;

retrieve supplemental data referred to by the reference; and

augment the copy data within the clipboard with the supplemental data.

15. The system of claim 14, the reference comprising a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) reference associated with an HTML social media website.

16. The system of claim 15, the supplemental data comprising social media data.

17. The system of claim 15, the copy data comprising contact data of a personal information management (PIM) application, the contact data comprising the URL reference associated with HTML social media website.

18. The system of claim 17, the augmentation module configured to:

augment the contact data of the copy data within the clipboard with the HTML social media data.

19. The system of claim 14, comprising a clipboard converter configured to:

maintain the copy data within the clipboard in a first format comprising at least one of image format, plain text format, HTML format, and formatted text format; and

maintain the copy data within the clipboard in a second format comprising at least one of image format, plain text format, HTML format, and formatted text format, the second format different than the first format.

20. A computer readable media comprising computer executable instruction that when executed via a processor on a computer perform a method for managing clipboard data, comprising:

receiving contact data as copy data, the contact data comprising a URL reference associated with an HTML social network website;

placing the copy data into a clipboard;

retrieving social media data as supplemental data from the HTML social network website using the URL reference; and

placing the supplemental data into the clipboard.
